The rethug plans to make this election all about the culture wars, has been blown to smithereens
Clearly the repukes were on a course driven by the cultural divide and intent on exploiting it for political gain. Nothing new here: elitism, blah, blah, blah, baby killers, blah, blah, blah. But the economic crisis has completely and totally blown that plan to pieces. And it showcases in start relief, McCain's confusion and incompetence as well as Palin's abject unfitness for higher office. McCain has been all over the map this week. He's said the economy is fundamentally sound. He's flip flopped on the AIG bailout. His usual confusion has been magnified by events.

McCain and Palin have been blown badly off course by what's happening. And it shows.

1. Plenty of time left, don't let up!
Don't think for a minute that the reich is even halfway through their bag of evil tricks.
New talking points are already being distributed. They will stop at nothing to remain in control.
Remember, they have so much at stake. Who knows what we'll find when Obama enters the Oval Office?
They know, and they don't want us to find out.

2. that doesn't negate the fact that the financial crisis
has changed McCain's ability to use the culture wars as a top issue. Remember when one of his top aides said, a couple of weeks ago, that the campaign wasn't about issues, but about personalities?

Not anymore.

3. And there's still more economic fallout to come...
WaMu, Morgan Stanely, Wachovia, and don't forget the big boy - FDIC. Yep, that massive insurance company is on the rocks!

4. Just heard on WJ that Chris Dodd said that we are days away
from a total economic meltdown.

5. The last lifeboat has been lowered
In a post on Wednesday, I likened the AIG bailout it to the last lifeboat in the Titanic.
That boat has been filled with the wealthiest who were still onboard.
This is not over by a long shot.

6. Recommended. And I'm pleased to say I agree.
And if they try to scapegoat gay and lesbian people again, that won't work either. There's too many serious problems out there for them to scare people about same-sex marriage. I believe that Prop 8 in California will be defeated, even further diminishing that kind of divisive crap from the Republicans.
