Eco-Palin? She Fouls Her Own Nest in Wasilla's Dead Lake

The words are enough to make John Muir proud...

Alaskans have such a love, a respect for our environment, for our lands, for our wildlife, for our clean water and our clean air. We know what we've got up here and we want to protect that, so we're gonna make sure that our developments up here do not adversely affect that environment at all. I don't want development if there's going to be that threat to harming our environment. -- Sarah Palin

Well, as usual with Sarah Palin, the words do not match her actions. David Talbot of Salon.com has unearthed yet another Palin contradiction that gives us an inside look into her complete disregard for environmental stewardship as the mayor of Wasilla.

Sarah Palin looks out the window of her own home to a dead lake for which she is in large part responsible. She has been a one-woman wrecking crew in her own home town when it comes to aesthetics and environmental responsibility.

MoronMike's diary :: ::
"Lake Lucille is basically a dead lake -- it can't support a fish population," said Michelle Church, a Mat-Su Valley borough assembly member and environmentalist. "It's a runway for floatplanes."

Given the upcoming VP debabe between Biden and Palin, I was expecting this indictment on Palin's environmental ethic to be more widely dispersed, but since it hasn't yet, I thought I'd bring it to your attention. Anyone concerned about her potential stewardhip of our natural resources, and those who might be in charge of protecting them, should take note of her actions (or lack of action) in this matter.

Sarah was such a great cheerleader for Wasilla, but she did nothing to protect its beauty. She'd go to these Chamber of Commerce meetings and say, 'Wasilla is the most beautiful place in the world!' And we'd just sit there gagging."

I hope that Gwen Eifel, who will be moderating the VP debate, will ask at least one question on the environment. If she does, it should be this one:

Governor Palin, what is your record of environmental stewardship as Mayor of Wasilla and as Governor?

Palin's answer, and Biden's rebuttal using the above information, should about cover it.
