Obama/Sibelius --GREAT OPTICS. What happened to Kathleen lately?
A lot of the vote is in the "optics" -- the images that persist in the voter's mind into the booth.
Obama in coral Gables between Debbie and Claire is good optics for the voters he needs to reach.

But what happenned to Gov. Kathleen Sibelius, the poised, charming, and middle-America almost Obama V.P.? She was GREAT! Hope there was no dissapointment there with the Biden decision. Would be great to see Barack and Kathleen stumping against McShame/Pain.

I thought she was great on the campaign trail with Obama, and Obama-Sibelius stumping together would certainly butress an image that would counter the McCain-Palin roadshow in terms of the "just like us" factor. More of thoughtful Sibelius would remind the swing voter that we Dems have women Governors that are not "cocky wackos."

1. I'm so glad we don't have a female VP on the ticket
Then the contest would be between who's chick is the best and this election would be sunk. Biden is way better than Sibellus as a ticket, although I'm sure she's wonderful as a person and a politician.

2. Biden is a solid V.P. for Obama. But the "stumping partner" thing is helping the McCain optics.
Sibelius could be a good stumping partner and help project the image of a middle-america woman in the Obama team.

8. I dunno, the image of Obama-Biden at the DNC was pretty powerful
and I wouldn't mind seeing them campaign together with Biden stumping at least once per week. I think it would do a lot for them if, once per week, they both got on the same stage.

But not more than once/week. More than that and they open themselves up to the same criticisms which are being lobbed at McSame/Pukin'.

10. FWIW McCain likely would not have chosen a woman running mate had Obama already done so.
This election wouldn't even be close if Obama had picked Hillary.

12. Thank. Such a heart-warming video - but not with Obama. Think he could use her better ON HIS STAGE
As opposed to in the ground game.

6. Obama wouldn't have her in Miami, it would piss-off the RW anti Cuba exiles.
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 01:10 PM by Mika
She sent a Kansas delegation to work on some agri trade deals with Cuba.

Down in exilio Miami, seeking trade w/Cuba for jobs in the USA? Well, that is tantamount to being a baby eating communist.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz might not have wanted to 'offend' her good congressional repug pals Ileana Ros and the Diaz-Balart brothers.

Unfortunately for America, when politicians of all ilk come to Florida they mistakenly feel that they have to pander to the extreme RW exiles and their anti Cuba agendas. Never mind that the majority of Americans and an ever growing base of younger & Democratic party supporting Cuban-Americans want to end the ridiculous policies of the US gov regarding Cuba.

Too bad that Obama continues this tradition of support for the US sanctions on Cuba (and travel sanctions on Americans). :(

on edit; I'm not a single issue voter, but really, this Cuba standoff and all of the political impact it has on US politics is ridiculous.
