3. That's pretty much it
He had a lot of experience that Sarah Palin has not. For instance, Roosevelt resigned his position as Sec. of the Navy to go fight in the Spanish-American War. Think about that. Which federal executive office did Sarah Palin resign to go lead American soldiers in battle? None.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Of course, the other main difference is that Teddy Roosevelt had brains and could think on his own without McCain and his legions of speechwriters to cover for his vacuousness.

20. He was unabashedly progressive, the antithesis of today's conservative.
He was the first President to call for universal health care. He was the first president to call for national health insurance. He was never investigated for abuse of power during his tenure as Governor. He never showed the slightest inclination to impose his religious views on others by force of law. He would have cut off a testicle before allowing the pristine ANWR to be despoiled by oil companies. His spouse never advocated for secession fom the United States. Just for starters.

Who am I?

I must fix what the Republicans have done.

I must deal with record unemployment.

I must deal with epic economic issues.

I must deal with getting this country back on it's feet.

I went to Harvard.

I am the former governor of a large state.

I know well the danger of right wing politics and what it means.

I believe it is the duty of Christians to help the less fortunate and urge citizens to enter public service

I am seen as physically unlike previous presidents.

38. And that compares to that moron from Alaska how???
http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1906/roosevelt-bio.html

<snip>

President Harrison, after his election in 1889, appointed Roosevelt as a member of the Civil Service Commission of which he later became president. This office he retained until 1895 when he undertook the direction of the Police Department of New York City. In 1897 he joined President McKinley's administration as assistant secretary of the Navy. While in this office he actively prepared for the Cuban War, which he saw was coming, and when it broke out in 1898, went to Cuba as lieutenant colonel of a regiment of volunteer cavalry, which he himself had raised among the hunters and cowboys of the West. He won great fame as leader of these «Rough-Riders», whose story he told in one of his most popular books.

Elected governor of the state of New York in 1898, he invested his two-year administration with the vigorous and businesslike characteristics which were his hallmark. He would have sought reelection in 1900, since much of his work was only half done, had the Republicans not chosen him as their candidate for the second office of the Union. He held the vice-presidency for less than a year, succeeding to the presidency after the assassination of President McKinley on September 14, 1901. In 1904 Roosevelt was elected to a full term as president.

<snip>

The arrogance and shamelessness of these people is unbelievable. How dare they compare that moron with Teddy Roosevelt.

41. Send her this...

I was a leader of the Progressive Movement.

I was an historian and published author who wrote "the book" on Naval War of 1812.

As a rancher in the Dakotas, I would read Tolstoy to entertain myself.

I served as the head of the United States Civil Service Commission for 6 years where I fought for government employees and their working situations.

I reformed the New York City Police Department while I was Commissioner for 2 years.

I was Assistant Secretary of Navy for 2 years where I modernized our Naval Forces.

I left that position to enlist in the Army when war broke our and lead my troops in battle personally.

After the war I was elected Governor of New York, before running for the Presidency.

As President, my love of the wild places in our great land caused me to set aside more land for national parks and nature preserves than ALL of my predecessors combined.

Who am I?

Theodore Roosevelt.

I favor shooting defenseless animals from airplanes.

I am against conservation and I don't believe in global warming.

I am a Republican abuser of power.

I had to hire a city manager because I was incompetent as mayor.

I am a religious wacko who is preparing for the end times.

I am totally unprepared for national (or any) public office, but I hire my unqualified friends for cushy public jobs.

I left my constituents deep in debt.

The establishment Republicans I opposed are still around, but anyone else who disagreed with me has been tossed.

I cannot correctly pronounce words like "nuclear" and "verbiage."

HINT: I'm not qualified to shine Teddy Roosevelt's shoes.

I have managed a state half as big as Pittsburgh for just under 2 years.

But most of my "executive experience" was garnered here:

I have no foreign policy experience, but ethics challenges from every government job I've held.

I think the earth is 6000 years old.

I once tried to censor books in a public library.

I chase wolf down in an aircraft and shoot them once they have passed out from exhaustion.

I would ban contraception and think that girls raped by their fathers should be required by law to carry the baby to term.

I am the first major party candidate since the civil war to be involved in a secessionist movement
