Kerry Challenges Bush on Terror Policies. YAHOO! |
|
From today's speech: "When it comes to Iraq, it's not that I would have done one thing differently, I would have done almost everything differently" than the president, the presidential candidate said in a speech to the national convention of the American Legion.
...
But the heart of the speech was a strong attack on Bush's policies in Iraq, delivered at a time when Republicans were midway through a national convention designed largely to stress the president's credentials as an effective commander in chief in the war on terror.
...
As a result, he said, "today's terrorists have secured havens in Iraq that were not there before. And we have been forced to reach accommodation with those who have repeatedly attacked our troops.
"Violence has spread in Iraq. Iran has expanded its influence, and extremism has gained momentum," Kerry said.
Kerry said, "I would never have diverted resources so quickly from Afghanistan (news - web sites)," where the Taliban has been forced from power but Osama bin Laden and other members of al-Qaida remain free. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040901/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_kerry&cid=694&ncid=2043

Hammer it home- we're creating enemies faster than we can kill them.
I also saw something yesterday that made my day. At the College Democrats meeting I attended they had official Kerry literature that said "John Kerry and John Edwards believe that America should be respected and not just feared." BIG thumbs up for the Kerry campaign catching on to that! The "war on terror" is NOT just a war with bombs and bullets, but a war for hearts and minds. It needs to be a more sensitive war (gasp!).

12. Stuck at 2.89, 646 votes. By the way, I watched that speech |
|
(can't believe CNN broadcast the whole thing). I don't think the "conservative-leaning crowd was mostly silent."
I thought Kerry was rather well-received, considering the crowd.

14. Yeah, they stood up at the end of the speech and cheered. |
|
There were several times when Kerry was interrupted by applause.
I know it was a tough crowd, but I thought he did well. The man LOOKS and ACTS like a PRESIDENT. It will be so wonderful to have someone intelligent in the White House again.

17. You're right, the manner in which the Bush campaign is being conducted |
|
is an issue in itself.
The article was WELL worth my time.

3 hours later, 773 votes, I have to say I'm wondering about the rumors that Yahoo voting is a scam now.
