Sarah Palin is scaring the bejeesus out of Floridians
John Aravosis (DC) · 9/19/2008 04:47:00 PM ET ·

Fascinating article Ben Smith http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0908/Florida_long_way_from_Alaska.html?showall just posted about how undecided Floridians are now moving towards Obama because of Sarah Palin. Seems they aren't very thrilled with "ideologues" like Palin. I'm going to guess that part of the reason is a visceral distrust of where the arch-Christian Palin comes down on the question of Jews and issues they care about. Actually, it would be a fascinating question to ask Palin, if she thinks Jews need to be "saved," and whether they're going to hell. In the meantime, let's not forget that the anti-Semitic Pat Buchanan claims that Palin was a big supporter of his presidential campaign. Palin denies it, but then again, she and McCain have been lying every single day since McCain picked her, so we're to believe Palin doesn't have a personal problem with Jews because she, a serial liar, tells us so? Pat Buchanan thinks she's swell, and says she was a big supporter. Here he is:"

Campaign 2008

ST. PETERSBURG — Five weeks ago, the St. Petersburg Times convened a group of Tampa Bay voters who were undecided about the presidential election. Their strong distrust of Barack Obama suggested it was a group ripe for John McCain to win over.

Not anymore. The group has swung dramatically, if unenthusiastically, toward Democrat Obama. Most of them this week cited the same reason: Sarah Palin.

"The one thing that frightens me more than anything else are the ideologues. We've seen too many," said 80-year-old Air Force veteran Donn Spegal, a lifelong Republican from St. Petersburg, who sees McCain's new running mate as the kind of "wedge issue" social conservative that has made him disenchanted with his party.

15. man, wouldn't it be great.
If 1/2 hour after the polls close in Florida they call it for Obama so we don't have to sweat every single vote in places like Colorado or Nevada later on.

I don't think it's possible for Obama to win Florida and lose the election.

4. Someone (a 527 or the Obama campaign?) should make an ad with Buchanan raving
about Palin and run it nonstop on the Gold Coast until after election day--or way beyond if McCain-Palin actually win!

and she is now going to vote for Obama. She said Sarah Palin scares the hell out of her and she said that the ladies she hangs with feel the same way. In fact they are now telling as many of their acquaintances as they can to vote for Obama.

Thank you John McCain for your VP pick.

On Edit: I forgot to add that another thing that is scaring them is the handling by the McCain campaign of Troopergate and the refusals by Palin's husband to honor the subpoena. She said this reminded them of how the Bush administration handles things. They thought originally McCain being a Maverick was going to be different than Bush. But this Troopergate thing has caused them to think 4 more years of the same.

8. Another predictable result from the Palin choice.
McBush was stupid to choose her. Short term gain is gone and he now must live with the consequences, which long term are pretty disastrous.

14. If So,Then Why Not Run a Political Ad Like This
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 05:31 PM by VogonGlory
If this is so, then why not run a political ad like this: a pseudo-news article purportedly from 2009 or 2010 showing a President McCain suddenly dying from a fatal stroke or a brain aneurysm and Vice President Sarah Palin just about to take the oath of office as the next President of the United States, then cut to a narrator running down Palin's singular lack of qualifications to assume the job?

I'm a former Hillary supporter who has become impressed with the Obama campaign despite my earlier opposition. I'd LIKE to think that SOMEBODY either in the Obama campaign or supporting Obama's candidacy would be smart enough to run such an ad. Heaven knows that nobody in either the Dukakis or Kerry campaigns would have thought of it.

In the meantime, I'm concerned that the Republican Party's Religious Right component now outnumbers the Republicans who still know how to think, and that Palin's candidacy isn't doing nearly as much damage to McCain's campaign as we'd like to believe.

I'd say it's a wash in terms of the freak factor. Birds of a feather.
