Sarah Palin Does Not Wear A Wedding Ring
Tell your friends.

Silly? Of course it is. Just the same, this is the kind of thing that can throw the McPalin campaign off its game. Make a big deal about it. Spread it around the blogs. Tell your friends. Get it out there so that Johnny McSame and the Palins are forced to answer the question:

"Why does Governor Palin not wear a wedding ring?"

It will be fun to see how many stories they come up with.

8. Haven't worn a ring since the day I was married.
Been with my wife for a third of my life. No children other than planned. Complete athiests, and the only member of an otherwise christian family who doesn't have at least one divorce. lol

Silly convention...

14. Hmmmm. I only take mine off at night. She seems like the type who would wear a fancy ring and a rock
so I wonder why she does not wear one? Possible her hands are still swollen from the pregnancy (but then someone posted that she has never worn one, so this couldn't be the reason). Some people don't , but she seems like she would for the sake of having on nice flashy jewelry.

The point is: will this little tidbit help to create the kind of useful FUD that makes some disgruntled rightie check the box next to "Bob Barr" come Election Day?

Probably for every repuke someone finds doesn't wear a wedding ring, there's a Dem that doesn't either. I just find this totally ludicrous and a waste of time.

The fundies? I would think this is exactly the kind of thing that would push their wee buttons. Dishearten them. Maybe even make them stay home on voting day.

The smart people will see right through it. But the smart people are voting Obama/Biden this year. :)

20. Neither do I. If she is as active and outdoorsy as she seems, that makes sense.
After the first time my engagement ring got hung in a hay string and I almost threw my ring finger off, I haven't worn any rings. That was 25 years ago.

THIS kind of nitpicking makes us look like nitpickers.

31. Actually this could kind of be a big deal.
Remember, her and McCain's base is the hardcore right Christian Conservatives.

This base believes in a hard way the sanctity of marriage, and wearing a wedding ring is a sign of your devotion to this sanctity.

So, her not wearing a wedding ring would be an affront to Christian marriage wouldn't it?

If they try to explain it with "well, it's her and her husband's choice not to" then you can hit them from the hypocrisy angle.

34. Exactly!
I see your point. Palin's base believes in "the sanctity of marriage", and one of the most obvious signs of that is the wedding ring, especially for women. I've worn my wedding ring since my marriage 19 years ago. For a while we didn't have them because we were saving up to get them (living within our means--what a concept!). My mother had a fit, and gave me Gramma's ring to wear until we got out set. She told me that it was only proper that a married woman wear her ring. I bet a lot of folks, especially older ones, would agree with her.

38. It's her church - Assemblies of God discourages the wearing of jewellery
"HOLINESS AND JEWELRY

"The scriptures teach us that the wearing of gold and the emphasis
of putting on apparel is a low key position with a New Testament
Christian. Again, jewelry and its excess steps out of the rank of
modest and into the area of the heathen. The Lord's delight is in the
ornamentation of a meek and quiet spirit. We disdain the expensiveness
and the excessiveness of jewelry that is not necessary. A watch and
convenient accessories that assist the individual in his or hers (sic.)
attire is to be given thoughtful consideration so that the emphasis does
not steer from the real and subvert to the gaudy." The Holiness Position
of the United Pentecostal Church International Adopted by the General
Board, page 7 - 8."

http://www.higherpraise.com/outlines/hpserm/Sermon57.htm

It goes along with the "woman must be subservient to her husband" commandment.

I think we should pay more attention to the actions of Todd Palin
