What's the fucking deal with Ed Koch?
Peter King has been on MSNBC a bit tonight, and I really can't stand that fucking maggot, so I went to Wiki to find out who he's running against and if he can finally be shown the door. I don't like what I saw:

"2008 election

King is again seeking re-election to Congress and while the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has said they plan on targeting King in ’08, they let the Nassau Democrats find a candidate and have effectively removed NY-03 from their watchlist. The Nassau Democrats fielded Graham Long in a long-shot bid to defeat King.(Newsday.com). Long works for Nassau County as a member of the Long Island Regional Planning Board, and his family owns a catering business in Glen Cove.

Former NYC Mayor/former King foe, Ed Koch, has founded "Democrats for Pete King".

King has also been contemplating running for Governor of New York in 2010."

I know he went off the deep end in 2004 for Bush, but he's still pulling this shit?

And why does it look like we've given up on the seat (according to Wiki)?

anything. leiberman, lenny davis, the lawyer that was always on the news, a group, be it small, a group is now pro bush thinking he is the hero. but i wasn't being a bitch to the jewish community. i understand, though disagree with their change in party. it is only for a time. and i believe many many have readjusted that view. but i am not out of line on this. i just read a letter from a rabbi that was just excellent, but he himself talked about this phenomenon in the jewish community.

just a small group

yes, dems still have majority of jewish vote.

koch is just one

6. Ed Koch has endorsed Obama.
His also has a serious spinal condition. so that may be affecting him. He may be sort of reassessing his perspectives. Who knows. He has always been a weird one.

Koch says Palin "scares" him, endorses Obama ticket

The Associated Press
September 10, 2008

Saying GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin "scares the hell out of me," ex-New York City Mayor Edward Koch endorsed fellow Democrat Barack Obama yesterday.

In 2004, Koch backed President George W. Bush for re-election, saying the Republican was better equipped to combat international terrorism than Democrat John Kerry.

Koch said he has concluded that the country would be safer in the hands of Obama and Joe Biden than John McCain and Palin...

Endorsement of Obama Overflows Koch’s In-Box

By SAM ROBERTS
Published: September 13, 2008

Not since Edward I. Koch disclosed this year that he was suffering from a serious spinal ailment has his online commentary generated the volume of e-mail messages he received in response to his endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for president last week...

15. He does have a spinal condition called stenosis
It's a narrowing of the spine that puts pressure on nerves, and causes pain. He had surgery to correct it.

It wasn't until I looked up Koch's condition that I realized that serious was to strong a word to describe his condition. I wouldn't used it knowing what I know now, but that was the word used in the article.

7. "The people threw me out and the people must be punished."
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 07:47 PM by PaulHo
He himself says this 'tongue in cheek' but there's truth there.

He's a bit of a political "wacko" ... to indulge another Kochism. He supports RW republicans that he happens to like: e.g Damato against every DEM opponent. He supported Bush but is opposed to McCain because of Palin.

As I said... "wacko". Don't take him seriously. He doesn't take *himself* seriously. And he doesn't deserve to be taken seriously by serious folks.

Seriously.

11. Say what you want about Koch, but he just endorses who he believes is the best... he endorsed Obama
I don't pretend to understand his mind, and I've disagreed with many of his endorsements and statements, but I respect his opinion. He's genuine for the most part, just says what he thinks. I like people with minds like that actually. Just my opinion.

12. He just wants to jump on the bandwagon
Because McCain sucks, Bush/Cheney are lame ducks and the GOP is pathetic.
