McCain has had a pitiful look on his face since he slipped
up and let the people know exactly how he feels about the economy. I can't explain it but he looks different around the eyes. I wonder if his advisors are telling him that it is over?

1. Perhaps he'll have a stroke & die. That would be too bad.

16. oh, man...
that's pretty cruel. I may not like his policies and the sleezy way he is running his campaign, but I don't want anything to happen to him.

4. Seriously, the truth isn't plasant or funny
I absolutely believe the guy is well advanced with Alzheimer's. That is a cruel disease that comes on so gradually that people tend to ignore the signs. But in his case, the signs are all there. Compared to Reagan, McCain is about 3 years more advanced than Reagan was at this stage. Reagan was still pretty sharp when he was campaigning against Carter. It wasn't until his 2nd or 3rd year in office when the signs started to become very apparent.

6. I don't know about Alzheimer's, but the stress of the campaign ...
... with the mistakes he's making and ground he's losing, has got to have an effect on his personality. He's bound to have trouble down the stretch, reverting to the ill-tempered hothead we've heard about.

12. His rant yesterday flat out blaming Obama for the economic crisis was just bizarre
The guy is melting down. He just doesn't have much reasoning power. He still looks pretty normal when he is reading a script that is just platitudes and chest-pounding, but anything of a factual nature is out of his reach if he is not reading it from a script.

19. Yeah, but I think that's their plan ...
... to simply go all-out negative and hope some of the smears stick and that some people are simply swayed by his "strength" (i.e. belligerence). The media isn't likely to focus on his lying as much as is warranted and so there may not be a political price to pay.

p.s. I loved Obama's simple response to McCain's charges, laughing at McCain for criticizing Obama for insufficient experience one moment and then blaming Obama for all of Washington's ills the next. Though I wish Obama would have been more specific about the critical deregulations being pushed through by McCain and his pal Gramm, back in 1999.

5. It's one thing to lose the good fight - he will lose dishonerably though...
Because of his Rovian campaign of lies and low blows and his pathetic, cynical Palin pick that will make him a "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING" laughing stock of his party, a party that weren't all that thrilled with him to begin with. Not a happy place.

7. His party will shun him if/when he loses, being thrilled to kick him to the curb ...
... and not wanting to blame the VP they forced on him; and his base, the media, will have turned against him, as well, having continued his deceitful campaign.

But if he wins, it may get even worse for him, as his Presidency quickly descends into failure. Whatever happens, John McCain's future is not bright. I might pity him if he hadn't become such a vile being.

10. Perhaps after he loses he can switch to independent and hang out
with his buddy Joe Lieberman. Both could be outcasts of their party...........

18. I expect that will happen.
If he doesn't retire early, citing health concerns and wanting to spend more time with his family.

13. I wonder if he had a stroke
Wasn't there an episode several months ago where he checked into a hospital unexpectedly? I wonder if he had a small stroke then. That could explain a lot of his behavior since.

23. Just a couple of weeks ago he was happier than I had ever seen him
He was just beaming after he pick Palin and after the Republican convention. Then this week he looks wierd. I don't know if he is angry and trying to control it? Or if he is feeling down? Or if he has been told he is going to lose? I just don't know but he is different now.

15. I just listened to a right wing radio host say he doesn't support
McCain. He's all fired up about Sarah though.
Guess you do have to be nuts to be a Republican.

22. He has the appearance, since even before the primary season, of a man
who does not have the stamina for a national presidential campaign.
