Anheuser-Busch distributes it in the U.S. as part of a deal with Budvar. See post #32 for details. Urquell is an excellent alternative.

Be it local microbrews like Fat Tire, 90 Shilling, etc. or good imports like Boddingtons, I will find a way to get the good stuff.

Edit: Looks like I'm taking Boddingtons off my list - seems that Anheuser-Busch distributes it in the U.S. :(

Anheuser Busch is a Belgian company.
The key is to boycott the beer distributed by Hensley.

Monster Energy drinks, Rumba, 180, Beach Bum Blonde Ale, Jack's Pumpkin Spice, Winter's Bourbon Cask Ale, Shock Top Belgian White, King Cobra, Hurricane, Kirin, Harbin Lager, Tiger, Bass Pale Ale, Beck's, Boddingtons, Hoegaarden, Leffe Blonde, Leffe Brown, Löwenbräu, Staropramen Lager, Stella Artois, Tennant's, Czechvar Lager, Kona Pale Ale, Redhook ESB, Widmer Hefeweizen, Land Shark Lager, Jekyll and Hyde, Icelandic Glacial Water, Borba waters, Arizona Iced Tea in 20-oz, Arnold Palmer teas.

Hensley Distributing sells ALL of these items. Stay clear.

I printed out a list at the beginning of this campaign and will not purchase/drink any of these until the campaign's over. (Although now that we've gotten to know the McCains even better, I may never drink them again - why would I ever want to give another dollar to such despicable people?)

52. The Hensly company probably
only distributes in Arizona.

Each state has its own peculiar liquor laws. Very few states allow alcohol distributors who cross state lines, although there are going to be exceptions to this. I know for a fact that in Kansas beer from the Guinness Brewery is distributed by Standard Beverage Corporation, and NOT the Hensly family. I feel 99.99% certain that no matter what alcohol you buy in Kansas, no money is going to Cindy or John's pocket.

(Ex-husband works for Standard Beverage Corporation, so I know all sorts of things about the industry, especially the part where each state has peculiar liquor laws)

Can't say I'm shocked that Cindy McCain is linked to AB who decided to sell out "The Great American Lager" (blech!) to Belgium.

32. I don't have that problem.
I only drink the original:

This is a good illustration of why Europeans are resentful of the U.S. The Czech beer Budvar, or Budweiser - the Germanic name of the Czech town were it was first brewed in 1795, is the original beer. Anheuser-Busch simply stole the name and to some extent the bottle design in 1876 to sell their swill. The two companies have been at it ever since. In the U.S. you can buy the Budweiser import under the name 'Czechvar' but the catch is that Anheuser-Busch is the distributor. Therefore, I would suggest to the U.S. members of DU that you try Pilsner Urquell.

Seriously, if you like beer than there is nothing better than what comes out of Germany or the Czech Republic. This stuff is the real deal. I don't know of any U.S. brand that even comes close (and believe me I have tried them all). U.S. beer is watered down piss.

If you are living in Knuckle Drag U.S.A. you may find it hard to get Urquell or Staropramen (another excellent Czech beer) but surely Beck's is available at the larger grocery stores and although it is definitely not my favorite, it beats the hell out of bottled American piss.

If for some reason I can't get Urquell in the U.S. I switch to wine. U.S. beer does not touch my lips.

Oh, did I mention I don't like U.S. beer?

39. Fat Tire is Good

The big national brands of American beer uniformly suck.
They suck so bad they had me convinced I simply didn't like beer.

Then I found that European beers didn't suck. And many of the microbrews didn't suck either.
