Palin Cancelling Events Around the Country
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 12:09 AM by RamboLiberal
We've just learned that vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has canceled a scheduled event in Colorado for next Tuesday, when she was slated to speak at a rally at Centennial Airport.

This latest cancellation is consistent with the abrupt change in plans for Palin around the nation, as the San Francisco Chronicle reports:

http://www.coloradopols.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=7453

Today comes word of... a rash of cancellations of Palin events. Has the Barracuda been gaffed? Or is it more gaffes they fear? Or maybe they've just realized they can't fill a venue without the Wasilla Cannonball on the card?

Either way, suddenly Sarah's ducking more events than Todd's ducking subpoenas. In swing and non-swing states alike. What's going on?

Two cancellations in Florida.

Two in California.

Two in Washington state.

At least one in Colorado.

And one in Wyoming.

Poor John McCain. It's just never gonna be his time. First he had his throat cut by George W. Bush in South Carolina in 2000, and now he's being knifed in the back by his own running mate in 2008

3. My honest belief is that she is being removed from events to spend time studying for the debate
There's no way her handlers are happy with the incoherent statements she has been making lately.

who said she was being coached for the debate -- if you're the vice presidential candidate, you shouldn't have to be "coached." Yes, Biden will prepare for the debate, but he won't have to cram like a college student studying for a final.

29. No doubt. Though, sadly, the debates are never evaluated objectively.
McCain will be cut slack as having done surprisingly well for an old guy, against such an eloquent speaker as Obama; and Palin just has to not freeze or start crying, and the media will call it a draw, at a minimum. (Just have to remember how Kerry destroyed Bush in each of their debates, and how the media judged them.)

My fingers and toes shall remain crossed, though.

42. naw. she would have ZERO pull within the campaign
Mccain's campaign people probably have little respect for her. she's a tool to them.

She has absolutely no pull, no campaign experience or even connections.

She strikes me as the pushy type and i bet she's already rubbed people in mccain's inner circle the wrong way, with her thinking her opinion really matters, etc. She's like the really cute & pushy niece that the corporate boss hired to do marketing, right out of college.

People will just marginalize her and try not to openly cross her.

She was a major asset for fund raising and polling, and now the bounce is over. She's more of a liability, and so they are going to pull her back in. She has this troopergate stuff and a debate to prep for.

Florida and Colorado are important. If they lose Florida, they lose. If they lose Colorado, it gets pretty hard to win.

Wyoming. I don't know how that fits in.

Palin lacks respect for flag
Article Last Updated: 09/16/2008 10:52:28 AM EDT

FLAG PHOTO IN NEWSWEEK
Gov. Palin shows a lack of respect
As I looked through Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2008, edition of Newsweek magazine, there on page 29 was a picture of SarahPalin wrapped up in a large American flag. I was appalled at her lack of respect for the American flag.
The only time a flag should be draped on anyone or anybody is on the caskets of our veterans and service personnel killed in action.

John McCain's pick of her as his V.P. running mate only confirms my belief of his poor judgment. All he got is a female version of old blood & guts Dick Cheney. God help us.

14. The McCain Handlers are busy combing through her past lies about to be exposed...
The surfacing of the travel approval document for her public safety officer proves she lied when she said the trip was the reason she fired him.

She is about to take a massive hit in the "Troopergate" scandal --primarily because too many Alaskans KNOW the truth to keep her 'stories quiet.'

Even with all the strategery help, Palin is a dead duck when that Oct 10 report on Troopergate is released.

Do people realize that she could be prosecuted criminally? How's that for a Repub VP running mate?

Now they knew the debates were coming on Oct 2nd. Obviously the McCain wouldn't have scheduled those events if they thought it would interfere with her debate planning.

So my guess is that she's been too bad on the campaign trail and they gotta shut 'er down for awhile and remind her McCain is still the alpha male.

50. POST TURTLE
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President .

The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle."

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle."

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain. "You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't belong up there, she doesn't know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with."

54. One of two things is going on I suspect
Either she is being taken off the media circuit to spend more time prepping, not just for debates but just to learn her up some for any time when she needs to talk to other human beings. She is horrible at trying to speak extemporaneously, has very limited experience, and little by the way of clear thoughts she can communicate beyond using a short list of phrases that she repeats over and over.

Or they are hiding her for a big event or some type of serious political make over. I think they are seeing that the narrative of her being a maverick reformer of Alaska is failing and people see her as unprepared, so they may be readying up a new political narrative for her to take on. They may try to spin her as someone that shoots animals from the safety of helicopters so she can effortlessly order the bombing of some country that did nothing to us.

It's probably a little of both actually. I think she is doing a lot of prep work because she is so unprepared to do anything related to governing the nation, and other people in the campaign are working hard to re-tell her political story and repackage her as something else to appeal to people.

68. It's the market crisis: She can't handle the issue AT ALL. Bailout is not her issue.
She's got nothing to say, anyway. She gave one speeck for 2 weeks and it didn't even hold water. Now, she has nothing true to say, she's about to be indicted, and she can't handle any questions about the bailout.

69. I think they are focusing on prepping Palin & McCain for their debates
and since they had a bad week, they are keeping them low so the surrogates can try and fix it,

in the meantime, the media is pushing Obama and Biden for answers that Palin/McCain can use.
