Local Restaurant Creates McPalin Sandwich - rofl
I wish they had the video of this story up on the website, which was hysterically funny, but here's the printed word anyway. Go to the link for pictures. http://www.ktuu.com/Global/story.asp?S=9043827

ANCHORAGE, Alaska-- A local restaurant is incorporating politics into its menu.

Lion's Den restaurant in midtown Anchorage has created its own specialty called the McPalin grilled pig sandwich.

Lion's Den owner Dale Keefe says normally he keeps politics out of work conversation.

But when he was making sandwiches with his crew last week, the big top news story was Barack Obama's comment, "You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig."

Obama's comment began Keefe's political food creation.

"I just kept thinking about that news story when I was making sandwiches and I just kind of had an epiphany," Keefe said.

The McPalin sandwich has grilled pork tenderloin on it with caramelized apples, red onions, melted cheddar cheese, and crisp bacon.

Most food creators add some type of garnish such as parsley or fruit to top off their dish, but Keefe decided to do something a little more personal.

The sandwich is served with a side of lipstick and fries.

The McPalin grilled pig sandwich runs for about $13, and has been selling out.

9. Looks like a pipecleaner to me
Along with craft doll eyes. The ears might be edible but they look more like little craft foam cut-outs.

That's almost as funny as "freedom fries".

Oops. My mistake. "Freedom fries" were just plain old stupid.

Naming a sandwich after a political opponent in a national election and inferring that she is a pig is beyond offensive.

Jesus. Is this really the direction we want to go, friends?

I challenge one of you to tell me that if the shoe was on the other foot, we wouldn't be good and pissed off, or at the very least disgusted and not afraid to express it.

Imagine how we would feel if we read about a restaurant naming it's blackened chicken dish after Barack Obama. And what sort of threads would erupt here if we encountered others giving each other high fives and having a good old laugh about the lunch special of the day? Fox News would have a field day.

Just imagine.

:(

There is plenty to criticize about Sarah Palin without celebrating nastiness that has nothing to do with the issues that are truly important to all of us.

My two pennies, FWIW.

P.S. Yes, I do need a vacation.

13. A couple of weeks ago I was at a local dive with my wife
They had stuff on the menu like "Chez Bubba" and a "Redneck fish sandwich with white trash tarter sauce"

I suggested that they create a "Sarah Palin Mooseburger with trailer trash barbecue sauce" The owner liked the idea, but I haven't been back since to check.
