3. Wow! Obama's kicking McCain's @ss all over the country except the south.
Dems are coming home. And look at Obama's favorables! McCain's unfavorable number is higher than his favor number. So are Palins! They deserve it. I hope this continues to hold.

9. Very slight drop from the last two days...

They were both 50-42, today's 49-42. Easily accountable to statistical noise.

What's interesting is to watch the breakdown by party affiliation. In the early days of this poll, with Obama up by two or so points, the margin was entirely due to the higher weighting of Democratic turnout. Democrats were for Obama around 85-13, Republicans for McCain by a larger margin of around 90-7, and independents and "others" went for McCain by about five points. Now, Obama has slightly increased his lead among Democrats, McCain's support has slipped among Republicans...and Obama now leads among the other two groups. If Democrats can be convinced to "come home" to Obama in the same amount as Republicans do for their candidate, this might not even be all that close.

(Of course, you do know Obama's lead is likely to slightly decline over the next two days..."weekend polling" effect and all that...)

And another point: while McCain continues to lead (only) in the south, and comfortably so, notice that his numbers there are in danger of dropping below the 50% mark.
