based on the fact that I don't watch TV. Like almost never. I just have better things to do with my time, like hanging out wasting time on DU all day. Ya know what I mean?
Anyway back to my question.
It's pretty obvious that McMoose have taken lying to new heights, to a new order of magnitude in political campaigns. I can get that from YouTube and all the usual suspect sources I read online. It's all over the print media, apparently. And I know that Tweety got all uncorked about it.
But, as far as you can tell, 1) Is it getting saturation coverage out there in the mass media? I mean, at least as much as the Gore/Internet bullshit or Kerry/Swiftboat, for example? and 2) Does anybody seem to actually care? I mean, in the old days if a campaign got caught out in that many lies, they would have crashed & burned by now & the election would only be a formality.
So what's going on? Have Rove, Schmidt & Co. now discovered that you can just lie with impunity, that if you keep telling it, people will either burn out or act as if it were true?
What gives?

1. i don't have any answers, only more questions... |
|
like, What Matters?
i am just amazed that McCain/Palin are doing as well as they are. What are his supporters basing their decision on? Can it really be Race, Abortion, Guns and some gut-stupid-reaction that taxes are bad and dems want to raise them?... without any real THOUGHT or consideration of facts? Do truth and substance matter?
Will the debates matter, much? My feeling is that the majority of those that will watch have already made up their mind. McCain would have to get up there and have the most senior of senior moments or totally lose his temper and start screaming obscenities to send anyone over to Obama.
....sometimes that's what i think. I'm sorry I can't answer you.

2. Yeah. Those questions too. |

Like there's some big disconnect in reality, and we've been plunged into a Kafka world.

Everyone, without exception, lives in their own mind-view of reality, as opposed to reality. That's just a fact, or, to be consistent, that's what my mind tells me is a fact. Yes, I think that we at DU are closer to "reality" than say, freepers, but everything filters through the personality, which strives toward internal consistency.

4. A labdl is not the same as an explanation. |

5. Yeah but labdl is a new one for me. I had fun looking it up. |
|
But I think I did offer an explanation.
Neither of us is new to this. I'm sure you've seen the quotes from H. Goering. Like me, I doubt you're surprised. But I certainly share your outrage. I always ask, "How do these motherfuckers get away with this?" before my head explodes. People are not intelligently designed.
BTW, I really did look it up, just to be sure. I'm never up to date on all the neologisms. I found this nifty Italian furniture maker. :)
(Another surprise: Motherfucker is in the Foxfire spell checker dictionary!)
Also, I always enjoy reading your posts. :hi:

8. Yeah, I thought that, but I couldn't be sure. I'm ignorant of so many things. |
|
Seriously though, I didn't think I was resorting to labeling and that's what made me wonder. I wasn't being snarky, just dumb. I really did like the Italian furniture. :)

The recent drop in her favorable poll numbers is a direct result of her being exposed -- both on the network/cable shows and in the newspapers -- as being dishonest. A politician who banks her reputation on being a new, honest reformer, which was her only "qualification," and who then is exposed as a serial liar, damages herself with each lie she tells.
