Obama Says If He Wins Florida, He Wins the White House - CBS
Oh SNAP!

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/20/politics/fromtheroad/entry4462359.shtml

...“I’ll tell you, we can win this thing without Florida, but boy, it’s a lot easier if we win Florida,” Obama said, adding, “If we win Florida, it is almost impossible for John McCain to win.”

While speaking at the home of supporters, Irene and Chris Korge, Obama also had sharp criticism for both George Bush and John McCain’s response to this week’s financial crisis. Obama accused Bush of being absent, saying that there has been a “vacuum” of leadership from the White House. “Here we have the greatest crisis probably since 9/11 and our president was absent.”

He went on to link McCain to the Bush Administration, charging him with having to borrow ideas from Bush and Karl Rove because he doesn’t have his own.

2. Then he better send a lot of signs and bumper stickers out to the HQ's.
People in FL are cheap and slackers.... it's got to be in their faces for them to wake up.

8. Not all of us
The primary reason that FL has gone red in recent elections is the influx of right-leaning retirees - most of whom vote without fail.
Add in the natives (who are easily conned by the faux patriotic reich, and the Latino's (who also have been hoodwinked by the reich)and you get red.
If the natives would wake up and finally realize that republican policies simply do not favor them, we would be easily win FL. An Obama administration would be the best thing that's ever happened to the working poor of FL.
Already, there's been signs that Latino's are moving away from the exclusionary, reckless repukes. The Latino's are falling into two distinct camps in FL in recent years - highly educated, very intelligent successful businesspeople and professionals, and the service sector who have heavily relied on the now-dead building boom. Both camps now have an ax to grind with the current administration.
The natives will be a lot tougher. Poor education and poor reasoning skills favor the sound bite politics that the right do so well.
Sadly, there is still severe rampant racism down here also.
I agree w/ the Obama camp: win FL and this election is over. But we can still win without it.

3. I Would Even Say That if Barack Wins FL, VA, *or* OH
He wins the White House. McCain has to win all those states plus NH and CO. It is a much harder road.

6. What are they planning on spending on Florida? $39 Million?
That is a TON of dough. I think we really have a shot!

10. I know they said they're spending that much in FL
but somehow I doubt it. I think it's a psychops thing to get the McCain campaign to sink money into the state, knowing full well that they have a limited amount of money and, if they sink money into FL, they will have significantly less to spend on VA and MI

9. That's a bit concerning, since Florida seems to have SO MUCH TROUBLE
holding honest, accurate, elections.

I hope it's different this time.
