Obama just finished his campaign appearance in Daytona and is traveling north up the coast to Jacksonville for a 2:30 appearance. Crowds already gathering.

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Crowds gathering for the Barack Obama rally at Metropolitan Park sloshed through a muddy field early Saturday morning.

Dark gray clouds hovered above as crews worked hastily to set up the stage and scaffolding.

The heavy downpours delayed crews from setting up Friday night.

A crowd of about thirty early birds stood in the grass, muddy and waterlogged from the heavy rain overnight.

Then, the sprinkles started up again. Security teams moved the crowd to the other side of the fence at the park to conduct a sweep.

At 8 a.m., the sprinkles turned into a heavy downpour again as more people started to line up at the entrance to the park.

"I'm voting for Obama," said Carter. She can't vote just yet. She's only nine years old. But she's among the hundreds of energetic supporters waiting to be let back into the park for the afternoon rally.
