Did Palin's son choose military over jail time?
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 01:44 PM by louis-t
A client of mine lived in AK until recently. He told me Palin's son was involved in some vandalism at the local high school. I can't find anything on the subject. Is he pulling my leg?

1. I've heard it, too.
Supposedly got f-ed up and disassembled the brakes of some school buses. I don't know how true it is though. I think it comes through the National Inquirer. I read it hear, and heard it on Randi Rhodes.

4. Enquiring minds want to know
The National Enquirer went with this story. Realize that this is the source of many of the rumors about Track and the rest of the Palin family scandals.

Some more links from similar sources:

On the other hand, the New York Daily News (consider the source again), debunks the rumor:

15. Thanks for the information
Since I don't live in the Big Apple, I didn't know.

The article did ring true, as the News interviewed one of the culprits who was caught and convicted.

8. Not speaking for you, but I do want to know.
Why? Because she used her son's patriotism, in his joining the military, as part of her political promotion.

It would be nice to know the truth behind her high regard for his patriotism.

6. If anyone questions the relevance of your question, just remember, McCain said Palin having a son in
Iraq is part of her foreign relations qualifications.

7. I'd say very likely
if it was a relatively minor offense. A drug user, apparently.

10. He never got caught but some people came forward that he did take part
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 01:44 PM by Jennicut
I personally think Sarah is not a good mother and Todd is not a good father. Kids make mistakes but these kids seem to have had no supervision what so ever. Drugs and pregnancy. Terribly sad really. Sarah seems interested in only power as does her husband. She even sent Bristol to live with her aunt when she found out Bristol was pregnant. I hate dragging these kids through the mud but she just seems very neglectful. I am mother and I want to say to her "where the hell were you? or the "first dude"?

12. Heard about it in a few diff places about 3 weeks ago
Article from the time of the vandalism which doesn't name the 3 under 18:

http://frontiersman.com/articles/2005/12/06/news/news2.txt

Alaska State Troopers arrested four teenage boys at their Mat-Su homes Monday after they were charged in last week's vandalism of 44 Mat-Su school buses - an incident that forced the Mat-Su Borough School District to close schools for a day on Nov. 29.

Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said the boys were in the custody of their parents over the weekend while troopers continued their investigation. The arrests Monday were pre-arranged so parents could be present when the boys were taken away to Mat-Su Youth Facility in Palmer.

Deryck Harris, 18, and the other three boys - ages 16, 17 and 17 - were each charged with third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass and conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, troopers said. The 16-year-old was also charged with fourth-degree theft and furnishing alcohol to a minor, for allegedly stealing a bottle of vodka from the liquor store at Tesoro 2-Go in Wasilla.

“They stopped at a liquor store where he went in and stole a bottle of vodka and provided it to the others in the group,” Wilkinson said. “Three of the four boys consumed alcohol.”

Troopers did not release names of the juvenile suspects, but David Coon's mother confirmed her son was one of two Burchell High School students involved in the incident. The other two boys are Wasilla High School students.

13. Many years ago it was the policy in some states to force a
person to choose the military or jail. I do not think this is a policy in any state today because it is a voluntary military. In today's military you will get kicked out if you do not toe the line. In my day they put you in a military prison or at least you received a dishonorable discharge.
A dishonorble discharge could ruin your life because very few companies would hire you.

16. I guess Palin didn't have enough pull as Governor to commute her son's sentence.
