BREAKING POLL: White Dems, Everybody else in the damn country is voting for Obama
http://dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/20/11942/5829/510/602589

NEW POLL JUST RELEASED!!!

A whole SHIT-TON of people are voting for Barack Obama! Black people, old people, white people - including SUPER-PASTY white people - angry people, happy people - an entire gigantic F**KLOAD of them are voting for Obama!

Contrary to a recent article that states some TOTALLY OBVIOUS shit, I'm here to convey to you some other TOTALLY OBVIOUS news: people are fed up with Republicans and would rather vote for a 12 year old spelling bee champ than pull the lever for four more years of this crap.

And, in case you haven't heard, white folks are even putting down their basketballs long enough to vote for Obama in...INDIANA.

Indeed, entire legions of pigment-deficient voters are casting their votes for Obama in...MONTANA.

In Iowa, where 106% of residents are white, Obama is absolutely crushing McCain.

Even South Carolina, home to racial harmony and understanding, shows Obama surging to within striking distance of McCain.

And if that wasn't enough, scores of overalls-wearing white voters (like myself) are having a dueling banjo contest in West Virginia to see who loves Obama more.

Personally, I've never in my life seen so many damn white folk excited to vote for a black man. Hell, not even Will Smith would be getting this many votes, and let's be honest, Will Smith is one lovable dude (though that Scientology stuff is kind of weird). The only guy who give Obama a run for his money is Wayne Brady, but I heard he's a libertarian (Paul/Brady '12?).

So here's my press release:

POLL: ENTIRE CRAPLOADS OF WHITE FOLK ARE VOTING FOR THE BLACK DUDE - CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT SHIT?

The economy is in the tank. Obama has the brilliance, temperament, and vision to prove to the country that he's not only capable of being President but that he's going to be a damn fine one, at that. So ignore this shit, stop the hand-wringing about race and the Bradley effect and all that nonsense, and get to work trying to convince these people that Obama is the best man for job.

7. Anybody who seriously believes there are NOT people who would refuse to vote for Obama
because of racial reasons is seriously in need of a reality check. Who knows how many there may be and who knows if it will really make a difference, but these people exist.

So only 106% of Iowa residents are white? I thought it was more like 110% or 120%.

8. And how does discussing this via the media day in, day out
help Obama get elected exactly?

There are folks who won't vote for an elderly man or a woman....but where are those articles?

23. So, if we ignore it then it will go away?
If we only have posts that help Obama win then any that have polls which show him behind McCain should not be posted either because if we ignore them then that problem will go away too. How does ignoring potential problems or pitfalls help Obama to get elected? Or is it just "don't worry, be happy"?

34. I don't think that the original post said that there were whites that
would not vote for Obama. Yes, we acknowledge there are racist Whites and others that will not vote for Obama. And really that's all we need to do is acknowledge it, not fret over it, not worry about it. Why? Because for every racist that won't vote for Obama there are (guesstimating) 10 Republicans, 10 New voters that are voting for Obama.

The Media days of planting fear in the hearts of Dems is over. They know it and we know it.

39. I don't believe it is a matter of planting fear but rather facing reality and dealing with it.
A certain percentage of Americans are racists and that even includes some Democrats. In this day and age it is politically incorrect for either Republicans or Democrats to actually say they would not vote for Obama due to his race, but especially Democrats. We recognize this and counter it by reaching more people for Obama, registering more Democrats, convincing more of those who do not usually vote to vote for him. We don't deal with the reality of racism by ignoring it or pretending it does not exist.

Anybody who seriously believes there are NOT people who would refuse to vote for Obama because of racial reasons is seriously in need of a reality check.

I am so sick of the whining here who at the merest HINT of a racial discussion. Do you want to know why 25% of the white DEMOCRATS polled said that the reasons blacks aren't further along in this country is because of "laziness?" It's because NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THE REAL LIVE RACIAL ISSUES *ALIVE AND KICKING* IN THIS COUNTRY.

Whether you want to agree with it or not, the AP/Yahoo! poll was dead on. There ARE large numbers of whites in this country who will not vote for Obama because of the color of his skin. There ARE large numbers of Hillary supporters who chose not to vote for Obama because of racial prejudices. There ARE whites who, though they will benefit under an Obama presidency, still are so afraid and distrustful of blacks that they simply cannot bring themselves to vote for him. These people are not boogeymen, alot of them are folks you see, live and work with every single day. And if some people can't be bothered to even TALK about the ugly issues facing their fellow American citizens every day, then how in hell are these issues ever going to go the f*ck away????!

40. We need to recognize that racism and racial prejudice does exist and to counter it.
Democrats who deep inside have racial prejudice are problematic because having racist feelings or beliefs is something no real Democrat would ever want to admit to having. I am sure that there are Democrats who feel this way who have found it easy not to confront their racially prejudiced feelings because it has never hit them as head on, especially in a presidential election, as it has this year. We have no idea of how many people are this way or what their impact may be and it is not reason for us to fear, but rather it should provide us with the impetus to bring more people to Obama, to register more people, to inspire more people to get out and vote this time for real change.

50. You're right. I scream inside every time I read here that Democrats cannot be racists.
The idea that to be a Democrat automatically precludes you from being a racist, a homophobe, sexist or just an all-around asshole just makes me want to peel off my own flesh.

Yes, Dems may be LESS racist than Republicans. And yes, Dems may be LESS likely to discriminate based on race, gender and sexual orientation than Repubs. But Democrats are still human beings growing up and living in a country that has been steeped and stewed in racial issues. No one is immune from them.

51. It may just be that for Dems it is harder to own up to racism they may harbor
and to face it and deal with it. It is easier simply to deny it with the claim of, "I'm a Democrat, how can I be racist in any way?" As they say, the first step to solving a problem is to admit that you have a problem.

11. In 1992, after 12 years of disasterous Reagan Bush policies
Millions of people voted for a short crazy man with big ears rather than vote for Bush. (Though the crazy man was right about NAFTA)

In 2008 the Bush polices are 100 times as disastrous. This time they'll vote for the sane tall man with the big ears.

Problem #1 is the media lies, and that includes right wing polls like Gallup and Assmussen.

Problem #2 is the obvious plans for massive election fraud.

Voter intent isn't even a question at this point. Chimpy couldn't even have won a fair election in 2004, and that's before his war and economy both completely jumped the shark. And Palin makes Chimpy look like he EARNED his college degrees (as opposed to Poppy buying them) by comparison.

20. Not so fast
My sister informed me the other day -- this is the sister that watches Fox from sunup to sundown, pausing only for Rush -- that she would have to hold her nose and vote for McCain.

The reason: One day, during the primary, Obama said he had been to 57 states. And this, my sister informed me, shows that he doesn't know enough about the country to be president.

48. Accentuate the Positives...Eliminate the Negatives.
Great post. I'm getting bored with balloon busters, negativism and pessimists.

An old vet white dude supporting Obama to a landslide victory in November. Latch on to the affirmative.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb6PHCVOU7s

AC-CENT-TCHU-ATE THE POSITIVE

(Johnny Mercer / Harold Arlen)

You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

(To illustrate his last remark
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark)

Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
No, do not mess with Mister In-Between
Do you hear me, hmm?

(Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear
About the elininatin' of the negative
And the accent on the positive)
And gather 'round me children if you're willin'
And sit tight while I start reviewin'
The attitude of doin' right

(You've gotta accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between)

You've got to spread joy (up to the maximum)
Bring gloom (down) down to the minimum
Otherwise (otherwise) pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

To illustrate (well illustrate) my last remark (you got the floor)
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they say (what did they say)
Say when everything looked so dark

Man, they said we better
Accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
No! Don't mess with Mister In-Between
