There were three with McCain, and one with Barack.

Both McCain and Barack had a card that just had their picture with "Just wishing you a happy birthday, from John McCain" and "Best wishes on your birthday, Barack Obama" (or something to that effect) in fake handwriting in the corner. Inside the cards, the McCain card said "I thought this would look good on your MANTLE" and the Barack card said "I thought this would look good on your DESK."

One of the McCain cards said something like "I stand for change" on the outside, and on the inside it said "Changing from bifocals to trifocals, changing from B-12 to viagra, and (something else that I'm forgetting, and NO it didn't say that. I, XemaSab, am forgetting what it said).

The other McCain card said "I have solutions for this country" and inside it said "Solutions such as Mylanta, Metamucil, Polident...."

I thought these cards were VERY INTERESTING.

1. Interesting
Wonder if one reason there were fewer Obama cards because someone bought most of them.

2. Either that or it's harder to make an age joke out of Obama
The part I really fixated on was the fact that all three of the McCain cards had an age (even ageist) dimension.

Why did the McCain card say mantle and the Obama card say desk?

Maybe because they're expecting most of the McCain supporters to be retired, and most of the Obama supporters to be still working.

3. They HAD these at a local art supply store here...
...in May, around the time of my birthday. A co-worker told me that they were sold out of the Obama cards, so she got me the McCain card. I have been defacing it ever since.
