Hasn't happened since '68, but the '04 election saw the highest turnout since '68 anyway.

I'm thinking the turnout on Nov 4 is going to see the highest turnout since Kennedy was elected.

2. If we don't Obama won't win!
I don't want to be a pessimist, but to break the 60%, the majority of all those newly registered voters will have to get off their butts and VOTE! I sure HOPE they do!!!!!

4. You have no idea how worried I am about that! I can't help but know
that historically, most young voters lose their enthusiasm between the time they register and actual voting day. Every prez election year I hear the same thing...we're getting the youth vote this time...but the only one I remember ever getting that illusive youth vote was JFK.

Dear God I hope you're right!

6. I'll go out on a limb,
and say this will be a record-breaking turnout. The combination of hope and worry is going to motivate people tremendously.

7. Yes. It happened in 2004
The way we count voter turnout has been misleading. Previous calculations measured the denominator by using the voting age population. But that is wrong, seeing as how we have millions of illegal immigrants and prisoners. They can't vote. The better measurement is something called the Voting Eligible Population.

By their calculation, we hit almost 61% turnout in 2004.

8. I live in Wisconsin where we have one of the best turnout rates in the nation
for presidential elections. We'll top 60% without blinking.
