so, about that bailout: could paulson "deputize", say, HALLIBURTON? |
|
and give them, oh, i don't know, maybe $100 BILLION while using the rest to buy up the subprime mortgages?
as i understand the current detail-sparse bailout proposal, bernanke and/or paulson can designate any company as an agent of the government, pay them whatever, and it's not subject to any existing law or review by the courts. the only thing "we" get in return is that company much do as bernank and paulson tell them to do as far as helping out with the bailout. yippee.
and then, halliburton could, give, say HALF of that money to the rnc and republican candidates for office, from mclame down to local school boards?
i think the federal government needs to do SOMETHING, and it ain't gonna be cheap, but this ill-defined scheme ain't it.

And I fully expect that, if passed, that's about what would happen.
I'm worried the Democrats will let it go, if they add, oh, $25 Billion for home owners.
This is insane.
