You don't replace your VP candidate unless there's a huge uncontrollable |
|
scandal. The downside is just too big. And as of now, there aren't any huge uncontrollable scandals about Palin- much as we'd like to see that occur. I doubt there will be. McCain doesn't want to ditch Palin. She's been a shot in the arm for his campaign. It's really unlikely that troopergate will change that. So unless there's something really big on the horizon, it's gonna stay McCain/Palin.

2. Maybe it has to do with his health. |

And that the VP can't be a training wheel type.

3. She was a shot in the arm... but the shot is poison. Saying there are medical complications with her |
|
baby would be the easy way out.
That way he still looks good to the conservatives for trying to give her the VP slot, and they can get another shot in the arm with some other VP pick.
Palin is a disaster.

he could once again do what he did before, control the media for 2 weeks... especially if he was actually smart and nominated an actual QUALIFIED woman like Susan Collins or someone of her stature. After the Palin disaster, even Huckabee looks like a seasoned international statesman, and he apparently doesn't despise him as much as Romney. There might be other things about Palin, although, my God, with all the stuff that we KNOW already, it boggles the mind that she is in there, but look who is in the white house now....

7. I agree. We may not see her as 'valuable', but she has done what she was intended to do. |
|
She got the base in line. Before Palin, McCain was having a hard time getting the base of his own party to play with him. I think their theory is that she will solidify the base and he is supposed to bring in independents and fringe Dems. The problem is that the more she solidifies the base, the more she scares off rational people and McCain just isn't that charming.
