My day at the Obama rally in Charlotte NC! (pics)
Edited on Sun Sep-21-08 04:47 PM by SIMPLYB1980
Me and my friend Nikki got there at 10:30 and barely got in in time to catch Obama's speech. We had a great day, I hope all this excitement continues until election day. I'm telling everyone I know to vote early. Let's do this thing!

1. Great pix, thanks! And I just heard a rethug say, "most
Americans are watching football today," while bashing Obama. Pretty funny considering these pics.

7. That might be a better estimation than mine.
It is hard to tell in a crowd that big.

5. I would say between 30,000 and 50,000.
I haven't heard anything on the local news yet, hopefully I'll find out soon!

6. Thank you! You've saved McCain a lot of futile expenditure of energy and money.
He ought to give up now, and save himself the trouble of being further identified with Palin.

14. There were two lines on different blocks to get in,
and the other was as long as this one that stretched 7 blocks.

9. Are we seeing the speaker's platform in the one pic?
And cool building in first pick, but what is it?

Love the looks though of many folks trekking to get into the speech. Yep, McSame, please pick up your lost baggage at the carousel, and GO HOME.

16. Yes you can barley make out Obama if you look hard.
And the big building is Bank of America. The top is built like a crown because another name for Charlotte is the Queen City.

18. Are you talking about the one that looks like it's opening up at the top?
If so, that's my favorite Charlotte building. I'm not a 'city' girl where you find buildings that block out the sun but I love that building. It reminds me of a rose petal opening.

19. The taller one on the left with the rings.
It's a beautiful building. I live in the country about 45 minutes from Charlotte. It's always fun to go there and walk around uptown. Their is a lot more to do than in Bessemer City pop. 16,000. LOL! Their were more people at the rally than live in my town.

20. I loved how it felt to be there, except for the crazy freeps with microphones on the corner
everyone was like-minded and feeling pretty good.

24. Yeah I saw those people. We got a few good laughs out of it.
They must have been scared to realize their are large numbers of passionate Democrats in NC, and we will not be silent this election!

I am pretty sure the front building is the Hearst Tower and the back building is one of the Bank of America towers.

29. Precisely.
The back one is the Bank of America Building, which houses the corporate offices.

Notice, too, that unlike most mid-size cities of the moment, construction continues on a large scale in Charlotte. BofA and Wachovia are holding up the local economy.

31. Thank you! I posted this information on a music messageboard that I frequent
I appreciate it.

It did blow that I couldn't go. I was disappointed. I'm not supposed to drive right now due to medical reasons. Lucky for me my polling place is within walking distance. So I will have problem voting whether I can drive by then or not.

The sad thing is, that I normally drive some of my friends without cars to the polls. I am still hoping to be able to do this :)

23. great pics!
I just saw him a week ago in New Hampshire. I don't know how many people were there, I think it was 8,000? Regardless the lines look the same. While Obama impressed me, the people and the conversations going on around me impressed me just as much!
