Tina Fey wants to “be done” with Palin after November
http://blogs.reuters.com/fanfare/2008/09/22/tina-fey-wants-to-be-done-with-palin-after-november/

Tina Fey’s hit comedy series “30 Rock” may have picked up 4 Emmys, but backstage at the TV awards show the show’s creator and star faced almost as many questions about her recent portrayal of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live” as she did about her award-winning show.

As it turns out, Fey would rather not see Palin become a regular character on “SNL.”

“I want to be done playing this lady November 5th,” Fey said when asked backstage about how she feels about the election. “So, if anyone can help me be done playing her on November 5th…”

5. So do we all.
There is no pleasure to be had in recognizing how sub-standard a candidate she is, or in realizing that too many americans either don't recognize this, or simply don't care.

11. I agree...
...it's one thing to have a vp candidate with whom you philosophically disagree--like Romney or Pawlenty.

Then there's this flibbertigibbet who they sequester from the press and the public, because she's incapable
of answering basic questions.

It denigrates our political system and certainly the office of the vice presidency.

Her candidacy is absurd.

6. It is probably a little scary for Tina
She looked so much like Palin on SNL and had the mannerism, even the annoying voice so perfect, that when she saw the video she probably freaked out. I would freak out to.

13. We all want that, Ms. Fey.
Her portrayal of Sarah Palin is frighteningly accurate. It IS brilliant.

But I don't want to see it after November.

15. I'm committed to being more positive from now on.
It may not help, but it can't hurt.

My wish is that Palin's children get their mother back. They really need her more than we do.

Repeat....President Barack Obama three times while visualizing him taking the oath.

No more 'repubicans are stupid' remarks from me. Republicans are smart, they see the truth, they vote wisely.

Namaste

17. I've got news for you, Tina - you won't be done in November, no matter what.
Does anyone believe that Sarah Palin won't be running for President in her own right in 2012? After the attention and love she's gotten from the knuckledragging masses, not only will she be running, she'll be one of the favorites for the GOP nomination in 2012.

19. We'll see about that...
If she's impeached or even prosecuted depending on what shakes out with this investigation, she's done for good, and can go back to reading the sports on teevee. I agree that her name is 'in the system' now, but in reality, I can't believe this isn't more than a one-and-done for her for a couple of reasons. First, her own skeletons. Second, as stated, the potential remedies levied against her. Third, I'm reading more and more from Alaskans, and if she loses in November, it'll be very interesting to see how she 'governs' in AK if she goes back. She doesn't seem to be the hero there anymore, almost as if this public vetting is being seen by them for the first time as well. If she isn't reelected, assuming she isn't removed from office, she's also done. Finally, bigger picture and perhaps a bit idealistic on my part, if we get the right people in charge, the whole country will see how healthy it is to move away from this whacked-out fundie ideology, and could be less apt to put one on the ticket next time around.

22. Skeletons don't seem to matter much to Republicans
Further, I think a November loss, coupled with what I wholeheartedly expect to be getting the country on the right track under Obama, would probably mean the Republicans would want to throw the most ideological candidate out there as a sacrificial lamb.

Granted, I'm way biased, but I believe if Obama wins in 2008, that the ensuing 4 years would be so appreciably better than our previous 8 that he'll be untouchable in 2012. I'm not saying they'll be great - we're in such a deep hole thanks to Bush that it'll take more like 12-16 years to undo his damage - but I think it'll be a lot better and on the road to recovery. Under that scenario, coupled with the notion that Republicans feel they lost in 2006 because they weren't conservative enough (which I think will be a repeated meme with a McCain loss) that they'll toss a whack job out there, just to see how it might work and because that's just about the only part of the party they'll have left - the whack job base that does the nominating.

24. Interesting perspective, and
one that's definitely plausible. I agree that mere skeletons aren't enough to push Churchy Spice off the page. However, indictments, convictions and/or impeachments/recalls would be a stain that I think not even the most whacked-out fundies could ignore. I guess you're looking at this from the Rs' perspective and I'm looking at it from the perspective of the whole electorate, which is why our opinions are somewhat different. In the bigger picture, I can't imagine that she'll ever be taken seriously again. Within the R camp, you very well could be right that they'll simply prop her up again, but I don't think even they'll be able to do that if something tangibly penal comes out of all this crap hitting the fan on her.

Again, as a disclaimer, my utter disgust with this fool being propped up at all is likely clouding my own judgment, as I think she's a dangerous, moronic cynical sham.
