Are we screwed in the electoral college?

I keep seeing these battle ground polls and they all have McCain up a point or two. Is it too soon for Obama's national lead to move into the state polling.
Or are we looking at the possibility of one candidate getting a significant popular vote win while the other locks up the e.c.?
I'm looking at states like Ohio, Va. Fla and it seems the numbers just won't move.
Am I missing something and getting overly fearful? Can anyone offer a scenario that's a little more optimistic than my reading?

7. If your definition of "screwed" is Obama getting 270 or more EVs...

...then, yeah, Obama is looking pretty "screwed" right now. Seriously, I usually check out realclearpolitics.com, fivethirtyeight.com, electoral-vote.com and pollster.com daily and the only one of those sites where Obama looks remotely like he might be in anything resembling EC trouble is pollster.com where they have a bunch of yellow states right now. He's over 270 on the others.
