35. A supporter came into the local Dem office and his solution was superb |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-23-08 09:29 AM by Nipper1959
He was tired of his sign being run over so he got a new sign, split it into two then glued them to plywood. Then he attached the plywood backed signs about 12 feet in the air to an oak tree. He was hoping someone would try to run them over again.

2. I have found globs of vasoline around the edges to be highly effective. |
|
:hi: Many neighbors have had theirs stolen but attempts to mine were aborted. I'd love to see the faces of thieves as the grabbed in the dark.

explodes on the thief, and leaves them and their hands covered with it? I think I have another way to achieve the same thing, and with items you can find right at home!
I know how to expel my dog's anal sacs, when they get too full - there are also instructions online and your vet can do it for you as well (USE LATEX GLOVES). You could then mix that with the Crisco or Vaseline. Helps your sign, and is good for the dog, too - long haired dogs esp. can get those sacs easily plugged (that is when you see the dog start "scooting" across the floor).
Anal sac excretions are tough boogers to clean off surfaces or hands, I speak from a lifetime of owning dogs. One example - dogs in my car, one was startled by someone approaching fast, barked and managed to expel anal sac contents in the rear cab of the truck. The good news is it smelled so bad that I could locate the excretion.
Bad news is that it took hours to get every last pindrop of it cleaned out - and the smell lingered. Same happens if you get it on your skin, you know, like those nasty hands that quickly grab your Obama sign? This would be the gift that just keeps giving long after they've peeled out of your yard.
I imagine from then on out, your neighbors/thieves will come prepared with gloves. I'll try to think of something for that stage next.
Just don't make it obvious that you are trying to "sniff" out which neighbor did it, by going around the neighborhood asking for a cup of sugar, and inhaling deeply. Be subtle about it, lol.

but does the supplement of choice go all over the sign, or just on the stake where the evildoer would pull it out of the ground?

10. This sounds bad but the only reason it's a problem in my neighborhood |

is because someone wants their own sign. Obama & Biden are extremely popular here in Wilmington.

7. Wouldn't bother anyone trying to get rid of an Obama sign |

in my area--they'd just shoot it down. Then they'd probably poison my dog, bash in or blow up my mailbox, and throw tacks in my driveway.

40. In my Georgia suburb, my Obama |
|
sign is still standing strong after 4 months. We've had comments. One guy knocked on our door and wanted to know why we had an Obama sign in our yard. We told him. My daughter has had her Obama bumper stickers ripped off. And I've been confronted twice in Publix parking lots (different Publix)about my bumper sticker. Each time by a man (I'm female). The first guy was standing right next to my door as I stepped out. He was loud and beligerant. Within seconds, a Publix employee was by my side. He thought it was a domestic dispute. 2nd time, a guy walking past made ugly comments as I was getting into my car to leave. He then tailgated me in traffic until he was pulled over by a DeKalb Co. squad car. I wonder if there have been many of these incidents. I also wonder if these guys would be so quick to voice their opinions if I weren't a lone female shopper. My husband, also with an Obama-Biden bumper sticker, hasn't been confronted. Not sure if it's because he's male and these tough guys prefer to confront women, or if it's just something about Publix parking lots and I'm the one who does the grocery shopping.

Every time one disappears, I simply replace it. The 3rd one I put out has now been in place for almost 2 weeks. I think the thieves have learned that their efforts have no effect at my house.
And if not? I have more.

16. I snagged up about 6 BO signs here in central Pa. |
|
in community property after the primary while collecting other signs, just in case.
I post a sign in our yard, and at the front of the development entrance.
Haven't gotten my yard signs up yet, but put the BO sign up with the other candidates I am supporting in front of the development - people kind of know me by now and know that me. My other signs have been OK, but the BO sign got ran over withing three days, I put it back up, it disappeared after two days, I put one of my other signs up.
I am going to hold on to the other four to have backups for down there.

Remember the old Ben-Gay on the toilet seat trick? I'd say it would work on campaign signs (it just wouldn't be quite as painful!)

26. I anchored mine in cement in planters from shrubs I bought |
|
And then filled the rest of the space up with rocks.
Then I mixed Crisco, blue paint and crushed red hot chili pepper seeds and painted the edges with it. If they want it, they are going to have to really grab on to it.
They've already taken my Al Franken sign. I need to get another one of those and do the same to it.

27. The drugstore has a tube of arthritis formula tube (like toothpaste) |
|
that was recommended to me by my doctor that gave me 3 epedural shots for shingles which did not to the job...............- it is Capsicum or Capsaicin 0.25%. it comes in 2 other hotness - it is made of chile peppers or habenaros or something.
They told me to use it on my shingles (if I can tolerate it) - You must use it VERY VERY sparingly and either wear rubber gloves or wash your hands really really well. I thought I could tolerate it...for about an hour then rubbed more on before I went to bed...and was up 3 hours later washing it with cold water. Now I use it real sparingly. Plus I forgot and got it in my eye and washed my one eye out for 25 minutes.
They can't do anything - it's over the counter...can you help it if you put your signs up after you applied your receommended meds from your doctor?
it won't burn their hands at first...but after about 1 hour - and / or heaven help them if they rub their eyes or privates.....or pick their nose....

38. kick - it's a sad commentary on the other side... |
|
...that we have to have a thread like this.
I wish I could have an Obama sign in our yard but I'm trying to sell my house in a very red area. The right wingers on the street just put up their McCain Palin sign this week. I hate having to look at it. Another neighbor works for Homeland Security so I'm guessing there will be another McCain/Palin sign showing up soon on our street.
