The problem with Ohio- and probably other midwest states |
|
From Rasmussen on Ohio:"Men give the edge to McCain 55% to 41%, but women favor Obama 48% to 41%." Now, yes, I know who Rasmussen is, but I think the point is valid. We had a similar problem with KErry voters here in 2004, but the women's vote was not as favorable as what Obama's is showing--and since Ohio was really a Kerry win in 2004 (those of us here who participated in the re-count saw what theft it was), we should be fine in Ohio this time.
Still we need to erase this gender deficit. As a male who works white collar, but was raised blue collar- I think I understand the problem. There is an unwritten blue collar rule that you let the loudest dog bark--but the loudest dog is usually making the least sense. Several of my blue collar and "good ol' boy" friends have started to speak up and find that it is beginning to change things in their circle.
For instance, usually Republican signs dominate my neighborhood and most kind people put up nothing to offend them. When I put my Obama sign up right after the primary was settled, I saw another go up--then another.
We have to find the tipping point and not be afraid to tip it.

1. The problem with Ohio isn't men, |
|
it's southern Ohio.
Southern Ohioans seem to think the Mason-Dixon line runs through Columbus.

One of those who still wears a habit - she's voting McCain because for her, the only thing that matters is ABORTION. No talking her down, no rationalizing with her, nothing. I'm glad to say that we have agreed not to talk much until after the election.
