Palin reportedly drew crowd of 60,000 in FL yesterday
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 10:32 AM by jenmito
Yeah, right! I first heard that from Joe Scarborough this morning so I did a search and found this article (it doesn't look like 60,000 to ME):

"Palin's Florida debut draws thousands

...Though the audience was one of the Palin’s largest to date, the actual size of the crowd was unclear. According Mike Tucker, the fire chief of The Villages who was made available to the press by the McCain campaign, 60,000 people crammed into the streets to see Palin speak..."

3. Here's what I said in the other thread;
Bullshit, from my local station;

For her first Florida campaign stop, Gov. Palin couldn’t have chosen a more welcoming place. The Villages is a largely
white, heavily Republican planned community of 75,000, with most residents age 55 and over.

And even on a blazing hot day, people turned out in big numbers.

A campaign spokesperson said GOP offices across the state had issued 25,000 tickets for the event. Those who couldn't pack into the town square watched giant TV screens from the streets.

Gov. Palin arrived at about 4:30pm, flanked by her now famous family, whom she said fulfilled a life’s dream Saturday with a visit to Disney World.

"Thank you for letting us be here," said daughter Piper into the microphone before her mother delivered her speech.

7. Yeah-it's clearly a false number...
So 25,000 ticket-holders were there plus 35,000 MORE? I don't think so. The pic shows a pretty slim street. Obama had 80,000 people in Oregon and that was obviously true. Let them inflate her numbers-the polls will show different.

19. "fulfilled a life’s dream Saturday with a visit to Disney World"
LMAO.. what are you fucking kidding me? One of her life's dreams was to go to fucking Disney World? Gee some people dream about being President, some dream about feeding and housing all the poor in the world, some dream about being a sports hero, or a famous musician. The V.P candidate? She dreams of spending the day with Goofy.

6. So, the Republican base loves her.
Most everyone else thinks it was a bad judgment pick. She is drag on the ticket, and this puts McCain in a bind because if he cans her, the base will be upset.

8. No chance in hell. I was at an Obama rally with 48,000 people.
And I was at the front and could see how far the crowd stretched.

No way that is 60,000, unless there is a whole whack of people behind the camera.

9. Email Joey the Scab and demand he correct the record!
Its bad enough McCain/Palin lie - the lies don't need to be repeated on a "news" network...

11. Same BS - the fire chief doesn't count outdoor crowds.
The McCain campaign has used this same lie about the supposed source of the numbers at their events before.
