I'm on my way to vote (Virginia) and help turn it BLUE

I voted for GWB in 2000. I know, I know, what was I thinking (I do come from a very conservative Republican family, but they're voting for Obama now in NC). I changed my mind after seeing the truth in 2001 and started seeking out those who thought like me and that's how I found DU. I joined in 2001 and between multiple tours of Iraq I kept up to date. I moved to VA few years back and set up my new home. A lot of us that are former military and living in VA are now registering in record numbers here in VA and voting for Obama.

Let's turn Virginia blue.

6. it was like pulling teeth

After calling in to inquire where to go some really pissed off lady tells me "early voting is not allowed in Virginia". I said "well you're wrong. I want my ballot". She said print it out and mail it. I refused, went to the local office and filled it out in person and filed it.

10. I appreciate your passion, but the misinformation on VA "early voting" needs to stop

Virginia does not have "early voting."
What you did was vote absentee in person.
When you went to vote "in person" you filled out an application to vote absentee since you will not be in the state on election day.
This is voting absentee and not early voting.
There are certain states that have early voting -- not 100% which ones -- and in that case there are actual open polliing places weeks or days ahead of Election Day.

I criticized another post announcing "early voting" in VA the other day, too.

I am in no way accussing you of anything and I think your enthusiasm is awesome, but it is not good for LIV and first time voters to potentially get on here and think there is "early voting."
