Googlebombing Wasilla Rapekit Scandal (not gate, lol)
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 02:37 PM by sudopod
Take a look at the URL for the CNN.com front page article by Jessica Yellin about Wasilla charging rape victims for their evidince gathering examinations--it contains both "Palin" and "rape."

Google is going to eat that shit up, lol.

How many blogs are going to link to this article? Guess what will be right on the front page when someone searches for "Palin" from now on? XD

Let's help it along, though, and make sure there are PLENTY of links to it everywhere.

Here, let me start the ball rolling: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/21/palin.rape.exams/index.html">Sarah Palin.

5. Google maps the world wide web
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 02:36 PM by sudopod
using programs that sweep through websites, mapping the hyperlinks that lead to and from web pages as they go. It goes roughly like this: the more websites that link to a given document, the higher the importance of that document, and thus the higher the Google ranking for that document for terms that appear in the page's meta-data, in the hyperlinks, in the URL, and in the page's content.

So, broadly speaking, the more links to a page with "Sarah Palin" in the link title, the higher those pages appear in a google search for "Sarah Palin."

Note that this isn't quite as effective as it was in the past, since Google frowns on these shenanigans and tries to compensate for them, but the fact that it is CNN will help a lot.

Plus, it only has to work for a little while to make a difference. ^_^

2. Um, do we really have to add -gate to every scandal?
It ruins the effectiveness when something like travelgate gets compared to watergate.

my 2 cents.

6. I agree the rape kit should be a scandal. I disagree that the suffix -gate
adds any meaning to it. -gate is overused and has lost its power.

Stories like this Sarah Palin story are depressing, but I guess this election is a healthy opportunity for Alaska to get some good and bad exposure.
