I hope the time comes when you can afford a dog for your kids.

Sometimes rescue groups will assume the medical liabilities if you'll adopt an older dog.

Hunt around for rescue groups on google to see what their rules are.

I wish everybody could have a dog.

They're so much better than politicians. The only thing they lie about is whether or not somebody already fed them. :)

That photo literally makes me cry. All of my dogs are puppy mill rescues and I work with a local group to rehabilitate and socialize puppy mill dogs for adoption.

My favorite fosters were these girls - when I brought them home, it was their first time to run free in a yard and not be penned up in a wire cage. Look at their joy:



They're both now in good, loving homes.

Now I love Barack even more :) It's all about not buying dogs from pet stores or backyard breeders and he's helping to spread the word.
