that if the Dems vote against the bailout and things fall apart on Wall Street and millions of us lose our 401K's and pensions/retirement because things fall apart on Wall Street due to the fact that the Dems voted against a bailout, that the millions of us will still vote Dem in the election? You might wanna re-think that one.

This goes beyond image.

If the Democrats stood by and let the banking industry fail, it would be a snarky, sad, and nasty thing to do. If it were only Republicans sinking, I'd think differently.

That said, this bailout is a band aid on a hemorrhaging, festering, gangrenous, seeping old wound. I don't think this fix is going to do much good. When behemoth companies like AIG are failing, you can rest assured we are only just now seeing the tip of the iceberg.
