1. If you're serious there's probably some cool punk bands around that might actually do that. |

The Queers spring to mind. They're right out of Portsmouth, and they do benefits and stuff all the time. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=8169750Drop them a line. You never know. Even if they can't do it they might know a lot of other bands that can.

4. No, what we need is.... |
|
What we really need are rock n rollers who will not only register, but PROMISE TO VOTE!!!
Seen it too many times where the kids like to show up at these events because it's cool, but voting is so NOT cool to them that come November they have better things to do. If there were some tangible incentives to help guarantee that they vote it would be terrific. Perhaps, for freshly registered voters-give them some kind of reward based coupon/discounts or gifts from local vendors if they can show ACTUAL PROOF of having voted, once election day has come and gone. This way the kids get their free rock concert, but WE get a new voter registered and validated proof that they didn't hose us at the rockin event. This may be easier said than done, but I think it's more important to register new voters and MAKE SURE they don't let us down on election day than it is to hold a feel good event. But I also understand you can get more bees w/ honey. When it comes to the young voters, you simply can't trust- we must trust but verify. Somehow....
Good luck w/ your event. I hope those that register at your event DO VOTE in November. It's important for everyone involved at your event-artists included- to make this clear to your target audience.
