My Argument With McCain Supporter-Via Internet
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 08:04 PM by Kerry2008
Him: Lol... vote for CHANGE... you can change your underwear all you want but ur still gonna get crap between your ass cheeks. Dont vote CHANGE.. vote for Improvement (aka Mccain/Palin)

Me: Improvement? He's voted for 90% of the time with George W. Bush. I don't want to take a 10% chance on improvement.

From the economy to Iraq, he's promising four more years of the same policies. That's not improvement, that's more of the same.

Remember in 2000, Bush ran as a reformer. In 2008, McCain is running on the same platform. More of the same wrapped in rhetoric proclaiming yourself as a reformer.

Improvement is 80 billion in tax cuts for the middle class under Obama.

More of the same is tax cuts aimed at the rich, with no new relief for the middle class and $300 billion more in tax breaks for corporations.

Improvement is a healthcare plan that addresses affordability to get universal healthcare for all that want it.

More of the same is a plan that would cost 20 million their employer based healthcare, and a candidate who promises more deregulation with the healthcare industry like we saw with the banking industry--which help cause the financial mess we're in

Him: -Maj. Leader Harry Reid, a Lefty, sets the agenda you moron. He has delayed votes numerous times for Obama and even Hilary, but what is hilarious is even after the vote is delayed, Obama still votes present instead of taking a stance. Like I said this is to save face. If he doesnt take a stance he cant be criticized for his vote so he maintains his... Read More bandwagon of Americans who dont know what is going on. (Im surrounded by them at MU).
-The energy crisis is probably the biggest issue in this election. Did you know Obama is against nuclear power (which emits water vapor)? He says its dangerous and can not be contained. Lol.. mayb if your using graphite as a moderator like at chernoybl. You can say Mccain is old and imply that he is senile but he knows more about nuclear physics and the potential of nuclear power than Obama will ever know. No one has ever died in America because of a Nuclear reaction but 30 people die every year from coal plants (which Obama wants to develop more of).

Me: "You moron" Wow, conservatives are really nice people, huh?

And you can't vote present in the U.S. Senate. I think you're talking about his time in the State Senate in IL where they cherry picked thousands of votes to claim he voted present. And by the way, voting present often means you disagree with a portion of the bill, so you don't vote yes or no. You may want to vote for it, but you vote present because of a portion of the bill you don't like.

John McCain has missed more Senate votes in this year’s Congress than any other Senator - 407 out of 638 votes - 63.8%.

And actually, you're wrong. He's not against nuclear power.

He's for finding ways to quote "safely harness nuclear power."

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/19/fact-check-is-obama-against-nuclear-power/

And an hour later, despite him being online, no response.

None.

I had a similiar debate on someones wall the other day on Facebook where someone tried to claim Obama was going to raise taxes on the middle class, and McCain was going to lower them.

I stated the facts, and said Obama's tax cut is three times larger than McCain's. I said McCain is offering no new relief for the middle class, and Obama is offering $80 billion in tax relief aimed at the middle class.

He called me a liar, I supplied links. He didn't like the links, so I told him about ObamaTaxCut.com so he could see for himself his tax cut under Obama vs. under McCain.

Continued to call me a liar.

In my view, these people have no defense. They'll name call or won't reply at all once you present the facts.

They'll say he's for things that he's against, and against things that he is for.

I had to laugh at the conclusion of the whole situation, I'm getting sick of these people pretending they know what they're talking about.

McCain-Palin voters, get a brain. Will ya?

2. That's where we have to do it, rebut them on social networking sites.
We can't let them post factually inaccurate information, and get away with it.

4. That's the type of response I get
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 08:13 PM by hobbit709
If I reply with facts, they accuse me of photoshopping the documents or they won't reply, or they change the subject. One guy got mad and told me that he donated $250 to the guys trying to swiftboat Obama and what did I have to say about that?
My response "A Fool and his money are soon parted"
Not another word out of him after that.

numerous times. They say something, I say something back.. then they have nowhere to go from there because I'm actually speaking in facts (something repubs don't like lol) and it's end of conversation.. they are quiet.

10. All you can do is keep hammering them and embarass them when they give the opening
Most of the Republicans subscribe to trickle down talking points and have not an independent thought.

Notice how Bush starts us on the path to being little China but they still run their mouths about "socialist libs"? The point is to dispel the lies, not change minds. Just think of them as one of the Borg.
