The NRA is swiftboating Obama
Edited on Mon Sep-22-08 09:57 PM by bluedem77
That didn't take long.

Factcheck.org has examined the NRA's claims that Obama 1) Wants to ban handguns used at homes for self-defense and 2) Wants to ban all deer hunting ammunition, and has called them false:

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/nra_targets_obama.html

Let's be clear: The Swifties made stuff up about Kerry, hence the word "Swiftboating". Now the NRA is using the same tricks.

7. Repeat "I will not take your gun away"
Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Only those who believe he is a Muslim will refuse to believe him, but who cares, they are hopeless.

27. Hasn't he already said that?
It could never be said enough, but I'm sure at least one ad has said that, and he has said it in his speeches.

28. As I said: he needs to repeat it.
Like with children. You need to repeat, constantly, consistently.

29. No, I understand that.
And I think he has a good base, but launching even more into that (ads that expand on the current one, continued refferences in speeches, sending out the surrogates, etc.) would be beneficial.

5. "Don't tell me we can't uphold the 2nd Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.
>> "The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than they are for those plagued by gang violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals." <<

That is a reasonable position, but the wingnuts want ZERO regulations on guns. I look forward to Obama arguing his case because the loons don't have a leg to stand on.

Of course it could also be they think a firearm are extension of their penis. The only problem with that kind of thinking is where does that governor from Alaska fit in

23. It's not how big it is but more of how well you use it (of course we all know that :-) )
Here is convoluted debate from some gun buffs about the effectiveness (we only assume the debate all has to do with ammo size of the firearm )

that nobody's going to take their guns away.

Imagine what that would do their membership numbers, much less their reason to exist.

the NRA couldn't care less about guns the NRA is just an arm of the Republicon Party. The problem is there are thousands of ignorant people that base their voting decision on what the NRA tells them.

26. How dumb are these people?
Every four years the NRA hauls out this same worn out canard. And every four years the dimwit segment of their membership rolls fall for it hook, line and sinker while continuing to own their guns. I would think they'd have caught on to the scam by now. You really can't fix stupid.
