Have you ever wanted to win as much as this time? |
|
I've voted since 1976 and never wanted it this bad.
I have never been as sure a victory since 1996 (Clinton v Dole).
1980 and 2004 are tied for the most heartbreaking (2004 hurt because it was a theft--I'm an Ohioan, you'll never convince me otherwise)
Your thoughts??

15. It would have meant a lot to me to know that a majority of Americans were disgusted |

by Bush's War in 2004.
There probably wouldn't be much of an anti-War movement if we were "winning".

7. I want to win every four years. . . |
|
And I've been just devastated about losses in 1980, 1984, 1988, 2000, and 2004, but I think this is the MOST I've ever wanted to win. I also think it's the most important, since the Repukes have fucked things up so royally that we just CANNOT afford another loss. . .

10. Since I've been of voting age I've never liked our candidate this much! |
|
I'll never get over Carter losing when I was a kid.
In 2004 I really, really wanted to win because I knew (we all did!) that a second George Jr. term would be disasterous - we were right, but not until the last couple weeks before the end of the campaign did I really start to want Kerry to win rather than being an Anybody-but-Bush-er.
This time, on the other hand, this time I'm as excited as people must have been in 1968 when RFK's star was rising. Hope and excitement.
Seems similar to the way 1968 must have felt too. Like you have this incredible candidate that you just know will change the world... but if you lose, you know the darkness is waiting there to engulf us all.

23. I know he can. I am just afraid of what slimy, dishonest things the repukes will do to steal |
|
the election. Isn't that sad...My greatest fear is that the election will be stolen and we won't be able to do anything about it? The last two presidential elections have made me lose some faith in the process of electing a president. I know who should win, and who can win...but I also know that the repukes will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Partly it's out of greatly admiring Obama (while I more thought Kerry was okay - mainly he wasn't our Cowboy Caligula). But partly it's out of thinking this may really be our last chance to get it right.

|
the Supreme Court....Look what happened after Bush won in 2004, Roberts & Ailito were added to the court..
The country cannot afford any more appointments from Republicans, especially from a ticket as far right as McBush/Palin...

I knew that Bush would completely f___ us over and it still hurts to know how much better off this country would be if Al Gore was finishing his second term right now. Like you, I am extremely confident of victory (as I was in '92 and '96) but I also know that Obama is inheriting a mess so huge it's going to take several consecutive Democratic presidents to fix. I don't think country has learned a damn thing in the last 8 years and instead of turning their backs on the GOP for eternity, they will let the Dems clean things up only to turn it back over to some piece of s@#& Republican just as they did 8 years ago. Honestly, knowing that Obama will be president is only small consolation. I still fear for this nation.

34. Definitely more in 2000 |
|
I knew Bush was the most dangerous type of Republican, someone who could feign moderate and unifying but he would get rid of that crap immediately in office. Plus, I despised the Cheneys, both of them.
Also, to be honest I was a bigger fan of Gore than Obama.

But it's easier to get excited about Obama than it was with Kerry. I loved Kerry, but he really didn't deliver any energy.
