For the first time in my life |
|
I am really really frightened at a possible outcome of an election. I feel like I live in an alternate universe. How in heaven's name can people be taking the Palin/McCain ticket seriously? The country is just about in a crisis state and they just give us platitudes.
I pray that it's not too late. I'm no young spring chicken, and I watched horrified as those I knew got their heads cracked in the '68 convention. But this seems so much more sinister, evil. Please note that I am not one prone to hyperbole.

And that is what is driving me.
I am not going to get nasty-negative about this election.
Nope.

2. The Corporate M$M has to help "keep the horse race" and "skew the polls" in order |

to keep the race close. That way the GOP can hone in on key states and STEAL another Presidential Election. :(

3. It's horrifying. McCain would be bad enough. Palin is just... |
|
...I don't even know. It's downright IRRESPONSIBLE to put someone that under-qualified to put someone that close to the white house.

My son said, tonight, that it feels like things are changing, like bad stuff is happening. I think the talk about the economy, Troy Davis' pending execution, a bunch of police cars driving around my neighborhood... it all gave him the creeps. Me, too. And the info from Democracy Now about deploying the army here has done it for me. That's the scariest thing I have heard in a long time.
Army Unit to Deploy in October for Domestic Operations
Beginning in October, the Army plans to station an active unit inside the United States for the first time to serve as an on-call federal response in times of emergency. The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent thirty-five of the last sixty months in Iraq, but now the unit is training for domestic operations. The unit will soon be under the day-to-day control of US Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command. The Army Times reports this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The paper says the Army unit may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The soldiers are learning to use so-called nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds.

That's even more frightening. I constantly try to rein myself in and not be a chicken little, but this stuff has been building up for many years. And, I know this may sound a little tin-foily but I believe it started with the big box stores and the demise of Main Street USA. The breakdown of community relationships.

10. McCain doesn't even try to hide the lines he steals, either. It's so blatant, it's shocking |
|
I keep wondering how conservatives can treat his candidacy with a straight face, but somehow they do.

6. I agree. i am more terrified of the possible results fo this election than any other |
|
election of which I have been aware. I am so scared that the repukes will find a way to steal it..and we wont be able to do anything. \This is really our last chance to turn this country around. If we don't do it this time..I do not know when we ever have another chance. The repukes will totally destroy it.

7. I know how you feel. I once thought whatever happened in 2008, no one could be worse than Bush. |
|
I was wrong.
Palin scares me about 100x as much as Bush does. I didn't think that was possible.

You may be a little older than me since you remember 68 a bit more vividly than me, but I have watched elections a lot. Yes, too many people are believing the McCain Palin line, but they would swallow anything.
Obama is poised for a win. We have to fight for it with all we have.
Bless you for your concern--it is not unwarranted. I was very afraid until about a week ago and I really saw some things turning our way in a big way.

15. I felt that way about Reagan. |
|
>>>I feel like I live in an alternate universe. How in heaven's name can people be taking the Palin/McCain ticket seriously?>>>>
And he was about as bad as I thought he'd be.
How can people take it seriously? Because people are dumber than ever. By dumber, I mean: less educated, more gullible, more materialistic, more short-sighted, less curious.
In the Reagan era one had the feeling that he was an artful con artist... which he was... and that people would come to their senses once his two terms were done.
But it's pretty obvious that something much more profound and lasting has taken place.

23. I agree the dumbing down of America is true, but what I don't |
|
understand is why the media and other corporations don't seem to get that if we, the middle class, don't have jobs/money then we will just stop buying/using whatever they're selling. If only 5% of the country can afford their stuff then I don't think they would stay in business very long.

19. I not only fear McCain/Palin, but also backlash amongst Hillary supporters |
|
If Obama loses despite having the lead in polls and producing no major gaffes, it will be because of something beyond his control: racism.
But that won't stop the litany of "I told you so" attacks coming from a number of Democrats who are still convinced we got the wrong candidate. The Democratic party, like this country, will be torn apart by the spectre of racial resentment.
Barack MUST Win. The alternative is just too ugly.

How Obama is not up at least 10 points is a mystery to me. I have a feeling we're being set up with all this "close election" bullshit, after we crushed them in 2006 and Bush's approval rating and the best candidate we've had in 50 years I'm supposed to believe this election is CLOSE??????
If it wasn't for my family I would LEAVE if we lose this election.
I really trust McHitler who was a prisoner for 5 1/2 years, god knows what kind of vengeance he wants to unleash on the world. Sorry if I'm being paranoid but I just watched the ORIGINAL Manchurian Candidate again in honor of McHitler, the original is much better even though I really liked the new one with Denzel too.
