I just watched the Clinton "The View" interview and I think he is getting a bad rap here
I watched the whole thing on You Tube and I think his remarks were fair, reasonable and not at all harmful to Obama.

He said Hillary "didn't want" the vice presidency. Uh, so? Did Obama want that job when he started his campaign almost 2 years ago? How many people want or aspire to that job? Most vice presidents accept the nomination because they were asked and they feel a sense of duty to their party and their country.

He became very cerebral when talking about voting behavior, almost like a political science professor, but his arguments were sound and I did not detect and sideswipes at Obama.

He praised McCain for his military service and helping to normalize relations with Vietnam. Again, so? Praise of McCain's war service has been standard fare in the speeches of Obama and Biden. By now, McCain has milked the whole POW keg dry, and it won't get him anything more than it already has. The only people who still care about normalizing relations with Vietnam in 2008 are right-wingers like Ted Sampley, who won't vote for McCain.

He spoke favorably of Obama's character and neglected to answer when asked if Sarah Palin was qualified for the vice presidency.

I wish the media and many people on the internet would end this obsession with the Clintons. It was understandable when he was in the White House, but there is a tendency among Clinton-obsessed people to parse every word Bill and Hillary say and then twist those words into what they want to hear.

1. Thanks. I doubt it'll have much of an effect on the hate parade here, but thanks.

Letterman...that is ridiculous.

7. I saw just a bit of it, he held up a book. I could be wrong, but just figured he
was on a book tour, not an Obama surrogate tour.

Is he on a book tour, did I see him holding a book or was it an old book of his?

9. These appearances are not on behalf of the Obama campaign. Hillary is acting as a surrogate and
working with the Obama campaign, complete with approved talking points. Bill is promoting his book and the Clinton Global Initiative.

15. He did an awful job and should be embarassed. For a "master" politician he came across as soft
He did no favos for Obama or his legacy that he brought down wearing a tight sports coat calling Obama a fairytale.

16. I just watched it too. Why all the drama?
I was expecting him to tear into Obama or something.

I'm no big fan of the Clintons, but this petty shit has to stop.

20. I think the Bill haters forgot the convention speech he gave too.
They forgot the awesome speeches that Bill and Hillary made at our convention. He is a former President and they don't typically go around bashing other people in politics. He made it clear that she is happy being a Senator from New York. He made it clear that he has a life of his own and he loves what he is doing. He is helping millions of people around the globe and he never gets any credit for that. Shame on Dems who are critical of him. He was the best President and we should not criticize him like that. He is not gushing over Obama. So what. He is acting both stately and bi-partisan. That is what we need right now in this world of turmoil.

25. He was promoting his Global Initiative and his book "Giving".
I don't think a two term President qualifies for a "dynasty" either. Good grief that is ridiculous. He has his own life now. Let's all get over it. Hillary is stumping for Obama. It is not Bill's job to stop what he is doing at the UN this week to do the talk show circuit and gush all over Obama. He was not there for that purpose. He said on all of his appearances that Obama was going to win this thing. That is the message that the American people needed to hear and he said it. He is a loyal Democrat and has proven that over and over again.

If he can't express real enthusiasm about our ticket, I wish he'd at least keep his ass off the television during Dem Presidential campaigns.

27. Thank you!
It's not like he didn't know when the book was going to come out. If he doesn't want to discuss the presidential election then he ought not have books come out during the election season. However, I suspect that he wants the added cache of being a former President who will be asked his opinion of the election while plugging his book. With this in mind if he can't be enthusiastic then he should STFU about it. His lukewarm endorsement of the ticket is not helpful.

Regards
