If you don't like the Clinton bashing, why would you read threads that bash Clinton? |
|
I've been here all day, I've seen the threads, I've not read them (not because I'm thrilled by Bill of late but because I'm not interested).
So what's with the "Don't bash Bill" threads?
Just don't read the threads.

2. I've hidden 20 threads about Clinton today. I'm on overload. |
|
And frankly, what concerns me most is this "story" getting major play in the media.
Bill Clinton is not doing interviews to sell the Obama campaign. He's doing interviews to sell himself. Period.
And if you watch the interviews KNOWING that, you'll be far more relaxed.
The media would LOVE to jump on a "liberals are pissed at Clinton" story.
It would distract from the financial meltdown which is a winning issue for Obama.
Most media analysts are mature enough to know that ex-Presidents don't bash their potential replacements.
If there's a story to be told, it will be about liberals turning on Clinton.
Bad for Obama.

7. I don't think what we say here often translates into news stories. |
|
From what I'm seeing tonight, the news that covers Clinton is wondering if he was sincere about what he said about Hillary, looking at his body language, not really much concern over impacts on Obama.

9. We'll see. I have seen stories spun because of what's going on at liberal blogs. |
|
Sarah Palin stuff, for example.
If I'm a Republican right now, I'm desperate to push any personality driven story/scandal that will shift focus.
Desperate.

4. I can't speak for folks who hate the bashing. But it is interesting to watch. |
|
And I sometimes throw down a comment or two.
The threads get personal, it's like a reality TV show, maybe it's voyeurism.
Compared to the real issues, these fights are like the comics section of the newspaper, but a bit less enlightening.

8. They watch Bill expecting him to knife Obama. |
|
And thus, when he says anything deferential about McCain, they scream "HE STABBED OBAMA!!!!"
Bill is trying to present himself as above all of this.
He's selling himself.
But that won't stop the gang from watching his next appearance salivating to tear him apart when he won't do campaign rally slogans.
Clinton won't bash McCain. He will say nice things about him personally.
Clinton will say he supports Obama and his policies. Clinton will say he expects Obama to win.

11. Eeew. Bad visual. Yuck. |
|
Pituey!
It's all just noise, Bill's out promoting his book and his project and everyone expects him to do more, they can't adjust their expectations to meet the reality.
Hill's been doing a great job.

13. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. |
|
But I'm sure there will be more screaming on Wednesday after Larry King.
I went to another board to see if people were up in arms over his comments. Nope. Most Dems were talking about how they missed the better times when Bill was President.
A non-partisan reaction to a non-partisan appearance.
Expect another non-partisan appearance on Wed.

sickens me to see it on DU - Clinton bashers made a mockery of DU during the primaries and now I see they STILL cannot let it go :puke:

|
I don't know what happened or what he had said, what he did or didn't do. I am confused! I can't read posts without them bashing him...in order for me to understand what's going on. I haven't watched TeeVee. x(

18. I find the threads interesting because I think they highlight a split in the Party... |
|
...one that started decades ago but really came into focus during the Clinton years. I think just pretending this division doesn't exist is a mistake for our party, and as ugly as it gets, this is quite often how things get hashed out. This isn't the way I would prefer the conversation took place, but I'll take it.
What does kill me though is it took two centrists running neck and neck to bring this out in the open more. Hillary and Obama's policies were practically identical, as was their voting record. But somehow Obama has gotten to be perceived as anti-DLC, and Hillary the face of the DLC, even though there's a hair's breadth of difference between them on almost every issue.
Politics...it's a funny ole world.
