OK....Forget about all of the distractions!
I've even asked to have my "Dear Bill" thread locked.

I don't want to talk about Bill Clinton anymore.
We shall see how hard he will campaign soon enough.
Till then...

I just want to discuss our current financial situation...
how McCain is going to try to game the situation....
What Obama will win the day....

and how the debate is going to go.

:hi:

1.  I think that Senator Obama should raise the minimum wage
I think that President Obama should raise the minimum wage as part of an economic stimulus package. When folks have more money to buy stuff they do just that! Senator Obama has been a 'from the bottom up' style campaigner depending heavily on a grassroots movement for much of his momentum. Raising the minimum wage would be far better than a lone stimulus check because the money received by We The People would be directed to the poorest workers among us and guaranteed over time! This would start a from the bottom up surge in our economy-another sort of grassroots movement.

True, the republicans will be screaming blue meanies but the simple fact is: folks with little money have little money to spend! In large numbers this lack of spending translates to stagnation or worse-we are at 'worse' right now imo.

The money from this can ALSO come from rolling back the bush tax-cuts on the wealthy. Well they have wound up with the money and sure those rollbacks are earmarked for elsewhere in the Obama strategy but I feel pretty strong that some of it should be earmarked to raising minimum wage AS WELL AS used for job creation.

The combination of raising that minimum wage with those middle class tax cuts and that promised tax rebate for the working class should be a powerful start on the road to economic recovery.

Bill who?

(BTW: Lots of DUers are adding photo's to their posts these days...ColbertWatcher found this one and I am utterly in love with it. It is a constant reminder to me that there are things very VERY important about this election that rarely if ever get discussed. Barack knows what is truly important-he is holding an example in his arms!)
