Check out that top map, I can't imagine how a person, who is out-raising another candidate mainly by small donations is still running a close raise to the other candidate.

1. maybe it is how elections should happen...

$25 max per person, the most money raised in 9 months wins.

2. I simply don't believe the polls are accurate.
I think the trends they show are probably indicative of the movement of Independents/undecideds, but the numbers are falsely skewed 5 points or so towards mcPOW. For various reasons.

3. polls are going to use 'likely voters' which lean towards the republicans
but you factor in all the new voters registered this election, which is leaning very strongly democrat - there is a large group of voters whose voices are not heard in these polls.

4. That's amazing.
There are only twelve states in which McCain is ahead in fund-raising. And other than in Arizona, his fund-raising lead is nowhere near what it should be, given how very Republican some of those states are supposed to be. Like Kansas, which is one of those considered a lock for him. He's only ahead by some $93,000. Heck, even Arkansas, headquarters of that Evil Empire, Walmart, is only $212,000 to the good for McCain. And they have a LOT of overpaid executives there, most of whom are probably donating in lockstep to McCain's campaign.
