*** Those pigs didn’t oink: Notice how the McCain campaign tried to change the subject yesterday? It cut its first Tony Rezko ad, which tied Obama to the “corrupt Chicago machine”; it angrily denounced the New York Times on a conference call with reporters; and it brought up Obama’s tenuous ties to ‘60s radical William Ayers on that same conference call. But unlike two weeks ago, when the McCain camp’s “lipstick on a pig” and “sex-ed for kindergartners” TV ad dominated the political discussion, those weapons of mass distraction got very little attention yesterday. The economy and the current Wall Street crisis have become THE story, and nothing right now is going to stop that. All the cable outlets will be covering the Paulson/Bernanke hearings as big news today -- making subject-changing efforts much more difficult.

The McCain campaign is throwing all of their shiny objects into the air, but the American public is too busy staring at their 401K statements to notice.

Reality came crashing into the McCain campaign this week, and like a drunken party guest that won't take the hint to go home, it's sticking around for a while.

1. McCain campaign has been unhinged ever since their lipstick bullshit backfired on them
They actually had the Freepers thinking that they'd won the election with that one, when it made the McCain people look like weak, whining infants. Nothing was funnier than the gradual realization that Obama had drawn them into a trap and they'd stumbled right in.

Rezko? Jeez. It's like they're pulling out an Easter egg that's been hiding in the backyard since April. Everyone knows about it, and nobody wants it around. I remember the Hillary crew saying "wait until the GOP throws its worst at you!!!!" But the GOP's worst is bullshit and already handled nonsense. Nobody cares. We do have to thanks Hillary for the kitchen sink business, since it got all this stuff out on the table where it could be dealt with calmly. There's nothing there. This guy - Obama - is the real fucking deal.
