1. This is the #1 misunderstood issue
The message that your taxes will go down with Obama is not getting out. McCain howls each day that Obama will raise taxes, and of course he'll never elaborate. This is a big issue here in GA, as it is all over the country. Money is tight, and people need to know that they will be getting a tax break under Obama.

What they'll do to your tax bill
McCain and Obama want to change the bottom-line effects of the tax code. Here's a dollars-and-cents breakdown of what their plans could mean for you.

4. your government is about to spend 700 billion
It does not matter who gets into office - your taxes WILL have to go up. Some more than others.

5. No matter who gets into office we have to rebuild the economy from the bottom up -
So the people at the bottom HAVE to get a tax cut and a hike in the minimum wage and...

People in the middle and top will have to pay higher taxes.

Whatever is done will be infinitely more fair if Obama is in office. Yes?

8. I agree I don't believe any candidate about tax cuts
Edited on Tue Sep-23-08 10:08 AM by pending
Talk about tax cuts is just something that is done to win votes. Tax cut talk is done to satisfy the naive.

Think about the last 20 years. All the candidates have promised to cut taxes on the middle class. None have delivered. I suspect that next 20 will be no different.

When you look at where this country is, and the enormous amount of repair that will need to be done, we've got 2 choices...either leave it in the mess thats it in, or raise taxes to fund the repairs.

Naturally, when tax increases hit, its going to make a world of difference of who wins. If Mccains wins, the tax increases will fall on the heads of the poor, working poor and middle class. Upper class will continue to make out like bandits.

When Obama wins, the burden will be mostly born by the upper class. Who cares if they have to repay a few million here and there from the ill gotten billions made in the last 8 years.

The reality is, you can't borrow a trillion dollars without paying it back someday.

11. We really need to get this out.
I've been emailing the graph to everyone but the Obama campaign needs an ad that debunks this myth and they need to show it over and over and over on every television station in the nation. This lie about Democrats raising everyone's taxes is one of the main reasons people are tricked into voting Republican.

That's why I found the numbers so surprising.

13. I believe taxes are going up, period.
I believe McCain will be forced to raise taxes, in some way. It just has to happen. It's actually Bush who is raising taxes because of he economic policies. He just going to leave it to the next president be the adult and do what is necessary. But the key is who will be taxed. With Obama, it will be the rich, as it should be.

Nice.

Don't forget we'll be closing the money pit in the mideast; we won't need an increase.

16. No!?! I'm unemployed
Our debt is so high I believe, even with ending the war, there will be some sort of tax increase...regardless of who is president. It's just a matter what kind of tax increase and who will be effected. I believe Obama will place the higher tax burden on the rich, which is what should happen. I don't know who/what McCain would tax but I don't see him being able to balance the budget and pay off our debt without some sort of increase in taxes. McCain may not admit this but I believe he knows he probably will have to increase taxes.

18. This proves Obama has to make his tax plan better known.
Edited on Tue Sep-23-08 12:40 PM by TexasObserver
Sometimes his ads piss me off, because they do not SELL well.

This is an easy concept to sell with a chart. He needs to use CHARTS to compare his tax plan with McCain. He needs to have someone sell those charts to the public through TV commercials. This kind of misapprehension is easy to cure, but someone with the campaign needs to use some expertise when it comes to SELLING.

The Obama campaign is doing a piss poor job of doing just that. SAYING his tax plan is better has not sold, and that's because many voters don't retain well what they only HEAR. They must SEE a representation of the thought to be conveyed, and that is where charts come in handy.

It's times like this I wish Obama had been a trial lawyer instead of a law professor, because then he'd know how to get to the fucking point without hemming and hawing all the goddamn time! He is far too obtuse, far too wordy, and doesn't seem to "get" audio visual aids in political ads to sell his points.
