My best friend and I have decided that we-Democrats-have been
too nice for the past two presidential cycles and that it is time for us to take the gloves off, no matter how it goes against what we value, because the Republicans obviously do not value fair play and honesty and integrity. I know that there are some Democrats that may slide into this activity, but it seems like this is a part of the unspoken Republican play plan. It is difficult, but we have been snookered before because the Republicans know they can use our values against us and they don't hold back. Hell, they even do it to their own members in determining their candidate - ask John McCain how he felt about GWB and Karl Rove when they competed against one another.

1. So why aren't you and your friend getting paid by the campaign?
If you are such geniuses and all?

13. This whole "take the gloves off" meme is secretly a conspiracy by the glove industry
Big Mitten is trying to trick us into losing one or both of our gloves so that they can increase their sales. Those bastards!

* sigh *         no, I don't mean that Big Mitten...

3. So far Obama has been consistently ahead.
No reason for him to change course.

You have to ask yourself, who is he going to win over by getting nasty? The people who go for negative politics will never vote for him anyway.

Obama represents good judgement and integrity.

11. And yet almost every pundit I hear cannot understand why Obama
isn't 20 to 30 points ahead of McCain. And he hasn't been consistently ahead either.

.the possibility that some people wouldn't get it, so thanks for your interest and I will add my real hobbies.

7. Dont pay much attention to the first 2 posters. They'd rather kill threads & lose
and wallow in their own negativeness & self-pity afterwards than figure out ways to win.

10. Excuse me??
Who the fuck are you to assess my position? I simply asked a question. Negativity? Hey, at least I don't sit around all day bitching about shit I have no control of....

Oh, and It's not for me, or any of us to figure out how to win. That's Obama's job. Too bad more people don't get that.

14. Thanks. Sometimes I forget that people here are eager to jump
on other people that have the same hopes for a winning Democratic outcome. Odd. It reminds me of a West Wing episode about Josh and the 'fan' site about and for him that he stumbled onto. He thought he could communicate with the people that ostensibly were fans of his and instead he found himself in a 'pool-pah' (Kurt Vonnegut)

15. We seem to be a little blue city surrounded by a big sea of red. And
sometimes it feels like Austin may be leaning a little to the red side - certainly not like it used to be. So, here's to Keeping Austin Weird! :toast:

16. True. If Obama loses, it will be due his failure to hit McCain & the GOP harder.
Sometimes he's too nice for his own good.

18. They know it works and that's why they do it. If it works for them and on their own ...
then by all means we should do the same to them. Of course we still don't have to stoop to stealing signs and bumper stickers.
