Why Don't The Obama Campaign Take Paypal |
|
First let me say I am an Obama supporter and always have been, I have supported Obama from day one, and will continue to support him until he is elected. I even mailed his campaign a money order donation. So I have donated to the Obama campaign.
But I do not have a bank account, or a checking account, or a credit card, just paypal. So if they would take paypal I would make more donations more often, and yet they do not allow paypal donations. Does anyone know why. I wrote an e-mail to the Obama campaign about a week ago asking why they do not accept paypal and they never answered it.
Has anyone ever found out why they don't accept paypal, it seems to me they are missing out on millions of dollars in donations by not having it.

I used my Fathers bank account. I get the money through donations to my website, and some people snail mail me donations.

I think most people either have a credit card, or at the least, a checking account/debit card. PayPal is difficult for a business owner to deal with, plus they charge a fee for "business related" transactions. I know, I have a business account with PP, and I never use them because of that. The fee is more than I pay my credit card processor, and my merchant account combined.
OH, AND YOU'RE WELCOME.

6. If you have a PayPal account, get a PayPal debit card for it. |
|
Enter it onto the Obama site just as you would a credit card. That's what I do.

But none of your answers explain why Obama does not accept paypal. Does anyone know why the Obama campaign does not accept paypal.
Hint: If you do not know the answer do not reply to this thread, and if you have nothing to add but smart ass grammer insults go fuck yourself.

most (all?) campaigns refuse to use paypal because of the risk of phishing. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13739_3-9861853-46.htmlThey are trying to fix it but they are not there yet.

20. All of this begs the question: why do you not simply have a bank account? |
|
Religious reasons? I cannot comprehend why someone who has money coming in will not have a bank account. Why?

21. Makes me wonder if he's paying taxes too.... |
|
someone posted about the amount of tax payers in the US the other day, and it was like less than half of the population. Even if you take out for kids, and people who are exempt, there still should be more than less than half...I think anyway...

22. IIRC, when someone pays you with PayPal, |
|
you can't really verify their identity.
This would make it hard to comply with campaign finance laws, since you couldn't tell who they were, if they were a U.S. Citizen, etc. You could even get someone "smurfing" with a whole bunch of paypal accounts to get around campaign donation limits.
