It's not ALWAYS the Republicans stealing our signs. Sometimes it's Democrats |
|
I only say this because I know it to be true. While we all know that most of the time our campaign signs disappear because of ignoramuses from the Republican ranks, I know first hand of a couple times when Democrats were responsible.
In 2004 my own Kerry/Edwards sign disappeared from my front lawn. Two days later it was back in my yard. I said to myself :wtf: A couple weeks later I learned from a fellow Democrat friend of mine that he was the one who "borrowed" it from me because he needed it at the time because he was having a Democratic function at his house that evening. His sign had disappeared the day before, and that week nobody seemed to have any signs to spare. Mystery solved and we both got a laugh out of it.
Another time during the same election year, I was riding back home with a friend of mine, another Democrat, after an evening hike and he pulled over on the shoulder of a highway where a Kerry/Edwards sign was placed, got out of the car, and scapped up the sign. I looked at him like what the hell are you doing, and he said he needed the sign for his own house because it was so hard to get a Kerry/Edwards sign at the time.

1. I've been thinking that too. People really want the Obama gear. Bad. |
|
I have no idea how common it is but I think it happens more than we think it does.

I smeared my signs with the cut side of 3 habanero peppers, you know, to keep dogs away. I'd love to see some asshole take it from me now.
If someone wants a sign they can ring the damned doorbell, or they can take it from my yard at their own risk

5. Anymore Suggestions That Might Actually Make Taking Signs |
|
uncomfortable??? Hot peppers is good, but if you have NO DOG, what do you do?? I do have a dog, but she's a chocolate Lab and LOVES everyone! She will perk up and bark, but she stays in our bedroom at night which isn't close to my signs! She alerts by perking up her head and sensing, but in the middle of the night... I'm sleeping!!!
And BTW, your friend COULD have asked!

4. Now THAT'S a good idea, to take them in at night |
|
I think I'll start doing that tonight with mine. I mean it's not that hard to walk out in the morning and put it back up. Thanks for posting that. :)

and probably in this GE if your sign is stolen its most likely from an Obama supporter. The yard sign shortage and anger over it is going to lead to theft.
