Some protesters who took part in formally non-partisan rallies against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's scheduled Tuesday speech at the United Nations were vocally critical of Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama's support of dialogue with Tehran.
Addressing a Monday rally in Washington D.C. organized by the Jewish Community Relations Council, an activist of Iranian origin who said he has spent years imprisoned and tortured in an Iranian jail, declared "Shame on those who want to get to the White House to talk without pre-conditions with this regime."

During a larger "Stop Iran" rally in New York, the focus of a heated controversy in which Hillary Clinton cancelled her scheduled participation and organizers withdrew Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's invitation, a small number of protesters carried anti-Obama signs.

One protester held up a sign reading "JEWS AGAINST OBAMA & AHMADINEJAD."
Another, identified by the Forward newspaper as Bill Rubin, stood apart from the crowd waving an Israeli flag and a sign that said, ?Dems hate Sarah Palin more than they hate Islamo-fascists.?
