Print reporters were barred from a picture-taking session at the beginning of the Palin-Karzai meeting in Karzai's hotel suite, but a TV producer reported hearing Karzai tell Palin about his son, Mirwais, as she sat next to him nodding.

Palin spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt attributed the fact that print reporters were banned from the meeting as a staff "mix-up" and said they would be allowed in for subsequent events. Reporters later attended the photo session with Uribe.
