2. Cool - but what would REALLY be 'breaking' is if McCain or Palin actually
came out to meet the press. I don't think that's in their job descriptions.

5. He is putting pressure on them to do this
by his coming out to meet the press.

Meanwhile, the morons over at free republic think Sarah Pitbull Palin is a hero for not allowing reporters into her meetings/tutor session with foreign leaders, and then are all confused because they can't find any media coverage of it!! Priceless!!

For example, he responded well to question regarding whether bailout is limited to mortgages. He noted that liquidity crisis is mainly related to mortgages, but it affects all credit markets.

Would McCain understand the inter-relatedness of credit markets?

I used it once again in a later post on another thread, but I won't use it again as the last thing I want is to be offensive. Please understand that all I meant was that McCain's reticence to answer questions makes him appear weak in my eyes.

Apology accepted?

Were you around a year or so back when a lot of us learned that "tar baby" is not only a reference to an African-American folk tale but also a pejorative?

54. Actually, that is one that I DID know was offensive and never would
have used. I think that a lot of people in my age range are more aware of racially sensitive remarks than words or phrases that can and have been used against gay people. My parents were really good about teaching us to be racially sensitive, but they didn't teach us JACK about anything having to do with sex. When I got my period I thought I was dying because my parents had sheltered me so well that I didn't know what was happening!

60. To summarize the debate that took place, some people were familiar with the term
as a pejorative, others had heard it only in reference to the B'rer Rabbit story. We agreed not to use the term because of its pejorative meaning. It's too bad, because the image from the story of someone getting themselves deeper and deeper into trouble through their own fault is so useful when discussing politics! I also like the other image from the story, "whatever you do, please don't throw me into that briar patch!"

62. My Dad used to read us the Brer Rabbit stories every night
before bed and he did them with such a mock-up of a Southern accent, it was really funny. But he used that to teach us that we couldn't call anybody a "tar baby" because it was a really "mean" thing to say.
