Raleigh, N.C. – A new Public Policy Polling survey finds Barack Obama expanding his lead in Colorado to 51-44. He was up by just a single point in a similar poll conducted two weeks ago. A precipitous drop in Sarah Palin’s approval may be helping to fuel Obama’s gains.

Immediately after the convention 41% of Colorado voters said that her selection made them more likely to vote for John McCain, compared to 38% who said it made them less likely to do so.

Since then there’s been a 12 point drop in her net favorability. Now just 38% say that she makes them more likely to vote for the Republican, with 47% saying they’re less likely to do so.

Iowa Obama 53 McCain 39 (Iowa now approaching landslide proportions)

Obama led among both male and female voters and all age groups as well as with independent voters. Of the independents polled,

55 percent support Obama and 37 percent support McCain.

The poll was conducted Sept. 15-17 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Pollster Del Ali, whose Maryland-based firm Research 2000 conducted the survey, attributed some of Obama’s support to the time he spent in the state ahead

of Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses in January. Obama won the Democratic caucuses in a record turnout.

“This is the state that started it all for Obama. He’s very popular here,” Ali said.

11. Good point! The landslide lead is indeed BIG news!
I'm damn proud of Iowans today. Too bad the MSM is ignoring them while breathlessly pushing the "race" issue instead. Why don't they interview some Iowans? They don't seem to give an credence to either candidates race. guess that doesn't make a good story though. :P

16. Coloradoans aren't falling for it. Palin was picked in large part to shore up the midwest.
It doesn't work for Colorado since it's much more diverse now than it was 12 years ago.
